Racing returns to the Diamond city on Monday with the 3 big yards making up 58% of the carded entries. The Lensley and Miller yards are both firing but the human yard has been running below par for sometime now...this yard is sure to start firing soon and Kings landing could well be the start of their comeback.

Early selections

RACE (1) Tokimonstra from Seventh Saint , Sacred Fort and Darting Arrow
RACE (2)Turbo( did not see out the 1200m) from Pont Du Gard, Silent Starship and Caribbean Bay
RACE (3)Kings Landing from Silver Glacier, Sacred Rain and A P Cat
RACE (4)Old Money from Ravarosa, Nikki's Greenlight and Blue Hyrangea....the Lensley yard will be very hard to beat here
RACE (5)Pep Squad from Pretty Wendy, Rock Burner and Sunset Boulevard
RACE (6)First Sea Lord from Two Gunsy, Manouche and Kiss Me Hardy
RACE (7) Machomouse from Phil's Power,Klondike River and On The Thames
RACE (8)Bongo Dance from Kali's King, Cash In Camilla and Western Force
RACE (9)Venturi from Fires OF Calais (my lurker for the day),Nico's Chick and Would I Lie To You

Best Bet Race (8) Bongo Dance
Value Bet Race (1) Tokimonsta
lurker for the day Race (9) FIRES OF CALAIS

let your selections flow in and enjoy your racing

Hopefully these selections are not taken very seriously - as I am just testing different angles, on different days at this track.

Race 1: Darting Arrow
Race 2: Turbo
Race 3: Silver Glacier
Race 4: Ravarosa/Blue Hydrangea/Old Money – Poor Recent
Race 5: Obladi Oblada
Race 6: Il Palio to try to beat First Sea Lord and Royal Master with weight – let’s watch the concept of less weight making a horse run faster?
Race 7: Phils Power should be able to carry this weight to victory
Race 8: Once again – can less weight make Roy’s Amazing Ash and or Triumvirate run faster than Western force
Race 9: If Pride and Joy is fit – should be race over , but she seems absolutely out of form – that’s not a disqualifier at Kimberley though. If not up to the task Miraflores should be contesting with lightly weighted La Rochelle

I thought that Old Money was a banker but the drift is alarming

Questions with which I open my form analysis are --- Why this trip? What makes the trainer think this horse has a shot at this trip, If I find a reason i then need to move on to whether the horse is showing recent condition, and then a causal analysis of how the weight might impact the horses run. That's my strategy at this track generally - if I find a trainer running a horse that is likely to be beaten, I will then turn to that horses coupling to see if any case can be made for that. (Obladi Oblada - Il Palio for example)

I don't find anything about old Money to impress at 1800m so I immediately examined all it's couplings - the best i could find was Ravarosa behind Bia's Blue Eye's (1600m), not that this is definitive since there is actually nothing impressive at 1800m amongst any of these runners. On that Basis you cannot Rule Out Nikki's Greenlight nor Wazeer. These two have had absolutely disastrous starts to their Kimberley campaigns - but at Kimberley, those are the perfect selections to come out and win :)

What is there not to like about Old Money over the 1800m? Ran 2nd over this trip last time out and it was in open company behind Natsuba who has won twice out of his maiden. Muzi gets the ride so it says a lot.. IMO a lot to like about her and a definite banker.

is probably one of the better horses in the race, but rested could be a good thing or bad thing , and there certainly isn't anything impressive about any of these runners. Hard to have a banker over 1800m coming off a rest.

Stamina is the topmost criteria in an 1800m here and on that basis the odds are slightly against Old Money(my opinion)
In an ideal world the two that can win this are Doctors Answer and Blue Hydrangea.Slight stamina doubt re Ravarosa

Coming back to Old Money can bokked or anyone else tell what was his 400 to finish over this trip please

Hi Guys,

Will be back tomorrow with full preview of the Vaal Classic

Kimberly Today:

Best Bets:

Race 4: Old Money(3) 22-10 Coming back from a rest but will be too good for this field

Race 5: Enticer(4) 6-1 Ignore his last run, was striding short. Will win!!!! Others to put in is Rock Burner(6) 9-2 and Intercept(9) 9-1 along with Sunset Boulevard(3) 6-1

Race 6: First Sea Lord(3) 33-10 I like this one as 4 runs back he won by 9 lenghts and only got a 5 point penalty. Ran a cracker behind Red Special last run which in same race beat the favourite Manouche(6) 3-1 and is still 1.5kgs better off. Two Gunsy(7) 4-1 should beat Manouche on their last run on 4 Sept as he is a full 6.5kgs better off.

Value Bets:

Race 2: Pigeon Flyer(2) 6-1 Lost ground last start and has been running in a lot stronger. Distance a slight worry for me

Race 7: Devout(4) 8-1 The quantity formline is working out well and is his 3rd run after a rest.
He beat Jet Sailor(3) 11-2 carrying 2.5kgs more now he is 1kg less. Stablemate Cozzenes Prince(6) 6-1 will be in the places.

Race 9: Would I Lie To You(11) 10-1 Good 2nd run after a rest run and will strip fitter. She has dropped heavily in the ratings and is now at a competitive mark. Fires Of Calais(8) 8-1 comes from Natal so might need the run and has also dropped heavily in the ratings and has a good draw. Watch!!!!

Good Racing and will be back with full preview for tomorrow's racing at the Vaal

R9 Don't know if she can be labelled a best bet but the half sister to Master Sam,Euan' Me must have a strong winning chance as non of the rivals she meets here can boast her cd form
The favourite has issues at the gate and is possible that from her poor draw will get nabbed if trying to come over
Ticky Tin will be doing her best work late and must be watched over a little further
Fires Of Calais has the class and the stamina but should need the run
Babushka Story could be the ultimate joker
