Who is following the money?
7 years 5 months ago - 7 years 5 months ago
Jooste has taken the rap or admitted to fraud depending how you look at things. This has resulted in him going to ground and the tap has been turned off. Shame I read the builders at his Hermanus mansion, rumoured to be costing more than 100 bar have been told to halt work immediately. So we have a scenario that the monthly bills need to be paid. The assets are now beginning to be sold - I see the better horses already being talked about, Edict of Nantes being discussed here. You have the general now demoted to a Candidate Officer ( lower than a troep in theory ) who needs to operate before the creditors come knocking. The question I have is who will be taking stock of the cash that will be generated from these "deals". Talk at Vascos yesterday is that the pied piper will be busy with Mauritius and cash will be king if you get my meaning. We had a similar situation with Van Vuuren, and the selling off of stock without controls in place.
Easy has got it right. Trainers who have Jooste stock should bail now. The gravy train dont have no gravy and judging by Joostes actions they not even going to get packet gravy from here on.

I'm sure there will be a softer landing for his trainers.

This is going to effect every racing yard in the country, imo Racing will struggle to survive

7 years 5 months ago - 7 years 5 months agobob there are several yards that dont have jooste horses so i dont know why it cant survive and on the klawerflei story there are other shareholders in it and im sure with all the hype of the export market opening up the current shareholders and im sure new investors will be able to purchase quality stock at lower than market prices if needs be..unfortunately one mans misery will be others gains ...racing survived without him before and will survive if he pulls out ..as my late boss always told me the graveyard is full of indespensible people..Bob Brogan wrote: This is going to effect every racing yard in the country, imo Racing will struggle to survive

bob i think racing will definitely survive.
what joostegate is bringing to the fore are the pre existing underlying issues namely that the industry is badly overbroked. by that i mean there are definitely too many trainers breeders and sadly horses for the number of owners. up till now the plan has obviously been to up the owners but in this economic and political climate that wont happen. the only way forward is to drastically cut the service providers. if the export protocol is reached and we are able to ship stock the breeders will be okay ( unfortunately the horses will all end up in tins ) but that wont help the local trainers. at the end of the day we have to accept there are too many horses and trainers and not enough owners

Anybody wanting to get out of Racing now should reconsider - IF Mayfair disappear then suddenly there is a big chunk of stakes too be had - They were the biggest stakes earners since 2007 (then Jooste)- Also Van Vuuren was second biggest in 2015 and 2016 - Chasing yearlings will also become cheaper if they leave the room. Kick on and buy wisely and I think you will have a great deal more success than in prvious years -
