It may seem harsh on the merits of this case, but I think holistically it is the correct decision. One of THE major reputational risks for this sport is jockeys having a financial interest in the outcome of a race (apart from fees and stakes). They had to set a precedent.

Considering that the guideline entry point for an offence of this nature is an 18-month disqualification, she should consider herself fortunate.

She made a profit of £160 over 18 months. Well done -

I think you are not deemed to be retired from Racing/Riding until you hand in your licence.

My initial reaction was that she has been in the game long enough and was aware of the rules.
