Race 3- I feel the wrong horse is favorite. Am in the camp of Party Beat. Hope there is a bigger drift so I can take some more.

Not the easiest of cards imo - 4 rather competitive maiden plates followed by 4 handicaps ... thoughts:

R1: Saint Michael deserving to be favorite after a good debut where he just faded the last bit to run third behind a subsequent winner; Tumbling Stream overdue, but SM has probably faced stronger; Hero's Honour imo comes out of a very weak maiden, and will have to improve some to trouble the top 2; first timers ?

R2: Someone Exciting made a great debut when going off at 50/1 and that was in soft conditions; so I prefer Eleni who finished 3.5 lengths in front of a subsequent winner (albeit in a weak field); Hafla is surprisingly (to me at least) again trying a sprint, and along with Dunas Douradas need some improvement imo; none of the first timers are finding any meaningful betting support, so Eleni looks a fair bet at the odds

R3: Party Beat got lost from a wide draw when supported on debut; has a plum draw today so is my first choice from Royal Resolution and Highland Hero; Gertjie ran on nicely in his debut and looks the only other one that may trouble the top 3

R4: Invincible Lady another who made a fair debut when finding betting support; not sure about the strength of that form though (imo both Pinfanta and Insignis made big improvement in their subsequent efforts), so I had an each way stab at Keep It Hot who should prefer the extra and is fair value imo; Candy Kisses and Sunshine Silk can't be ignored while Quick Glimpse will need some luck from the draw

R5: Tough little fillies and mares handicap; Fish River tries further, no certainty to stay though, which brings a lot of others into the race; I think La Bastide on her run in the Starling Stakes will be competitive at these weights, but only Movie Award and Charter Jet can safely be ignored here

R6: Another tough handicap for the boys this time; I think it's fair to say that Unrehearsed has been a big disappointment to connections thus far, must have some sort of chance, but I prefer others; Mioshi looks well treated here and has a good draw to boot, so definite chance along with stable mate King and Empire who has found the first 3 in 7 out of 10 tries over this track and trip; Trip to Troy and Pachuco boast pretty similar records, Pachuco has a pull in the weights - but a wider draw, so hard to split those two; jockey arrangements seem to suggest that Aurora Astralis is not the preferred one from the Tarry stable, so for a roughie I'm rather including Majestic Bay whose last runs in the soft can probably discounted - MR has taken a big dive so could upset from a plum draw

R7: Easiest of the handicaps imo; quite a few under sufferance here while Okavango Delta should find this too short; so I make it between the improving 3 year olds Majestic Mambo and Kremlin Judgement; MM impressive first win, so not the worst option imo for a P6 banker; bar KJ, next best for me is Collabro, followed by Gambado and Wheel of Time.

R8: Tough race to close; depending on how the P6 is structured and how Saint Michael goes in the first, one may be forced to look as Takaduma as a banker; second choice for me would be Rightful King, who should surely some day prove he is not a 69  but there are plenty of others to consider, including Hot August, Flag of France, Lauren of Rochelle, Timeofthevikings, Cannes (allowance will help) and Racing Free

Enjoy B)
