Good morning to the CLAN and time does fly when you are enjoying yourself? [just finished a stock take] and glad to report its the 1st of July!
Well apart from all the drama and negative vibes on the websites [which I am sorry to say, many thrive on] I look forward to a positive July month with the big one only a few days away.
I have been listening and reading all the expert advise, but at the end of the day, if it was not the JULY, I would not be having a punt, but what the hell, its Pocket Power all the way and no looking for ghosts.
I see on Interbet its better than 7/2 the win [4.75] and 14/10 the place, first 3.
Some of the other races should also be great and the clash between Warm White Night and Merlene De Lago should be one of the highlights [not to mention Mans Mood].
My tennis predictions are going strong and Federer 12/10 to 8/10 and Serena 5/1 to 2/1 to beat the sister, in fact you can take evens on an all Williams final.
The Open starts 17th and big Ernie is my man 13/1 is the best on offer.
On the racing front overseas and the Eclipse stakes at Sandown is on Sat the 5th, the 11th is Newmarket for the Darley Cup, York is on the 12th the John Smith Cup, 24th at Ascot is the King George, where Duke of Marmalade should toast the opposition and finally its Glorious Goodwood on the 30th for the Sussex Stakes where we should see Henrythenavigator.
A bit further forward on the ante-post side is the ARC on the 5th Oct where Zarkava has shortened from 10/1 to 11/2 [glad some still read my posts].
Its then the States for the Breeders Cup end of Oct and we hope a clash Curlin vs Big Brown, then a trip to Aus for the Cox Plate [Jay Peg??] and the Melbourne Cup.
I had a pleasant day at the big T on Sunday, and would have been better if Fair Brutus had kicked on a bit earlier, plus was given a couple of wayward tips that were supposed to be hotter than the curry.
Will be at the Joburg track on Sat. to try and get the July vibe at reduced rates and might swing the Sunday meeting, but its Mrs S birthday this week and have been given a verbal warning.
The boy wonder is in Durban this week, how can my son afford it and I am stuck at base trying to earn money to help pay for his trip? is this not a case of Father abuse?
What about the current political situation, with Mugabe/Mbeki [shocker!] and Zuma looking forward taking over at the helm? here is one for our new president.
An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman are drinking in a bar when in bursts a mad revolutionary. "I have a syringe full of blood with the AIDS Virus, and if you don't give me all your money, why, I'll stick it in yer."
He approaches the Englishman, who has just cashed his pay-cheque, and the Englishman hands over his hard earned money.
He approaches the Scotsman, who has £3.50 in his pocket, and the Scotsman, it being his round next anyhow, hands over his money after a few seconds' thought.
He approaches the Irishman, who has £3000 in his inside pocket, for a deposit on his flat. "Bugger off!" says the Irishman.
"But it's the Aids Virus! It'll kill you!"
"Bugger off, Oi said!"
So the mad revolutionary sticks the needle into the Irishman and runs out of the pub.
"That was very brave," says the Englishman,
"-But very very stupid," exclaims the Scot.
"Not to worry," replies Paddy, "I am wearing a condom
