I am on vacation in the State of Oregon for the United States Olympic Trials for track and field. I am enjoying the hell out of it, as the competition has been intense and I love being with 20,000 people everyday who are there to celebrate sport. Think of it: 20,000 mature adults who have chosen to come from all over the United States to watch athletics. There is no betting, precious little second-guessing and very little bitching, moaning or groaning.

The one thing the track nuts do have in common with horseracing maniacs is the one thing that binds all sports fan together and is the main reason people are involved in the Sport of Kings: they live to utter, following a race, this key phrase: "Was I right? I told you so, right? Am I right, or am I right, or am I
RIGHT!"
