Wilgerbosdrift will be offering nine lots at the 2018 Cape Yearling Sale, set to take place at Mistico Equestrian Centre later this month.
The farm, breeders of the great sire Dynasty among others, have a strong draft, with their yearlings including lots by resident sires Flower Alley and Soft Falling Rain, as well as Byword, Ideal World, Master Of My Fate, and What A Winter.

Travers Stakes winner and proven sire of champions Flower Alley has a single member of his first South African crop in the draft. Already named Hawthorn (Lot 44), this grey filly is out of a daughter of G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Emerald Beauty and she is from the same “E” family as champions Eventuail, Empress Club, Elusive Fort, and Hermoso Mundo.

Former Equus Champion and globetrotting sensation Soft Falling Rain has already made his mark with his first yearlings making up to R1.4 million recently. The champion has two on offer here –a colt named Spring Rain (Lot 76), whose winning Fort Wood sired dam is a sister in blood to G1 winners Heir Apparent and Athina, and Tree of Wisdom (Lot 79). The latter is a half-brother to 3 winners, one of whom won seven, and he is from the same family as the Dubai based dual Guineas winner Janoobi, among many others.

Former G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Byword has a trio of yearlings on offer. They include a a filly (Lot 27) who is out of a winning half-sister to champion Dancer’s Daughter (Lot 27), a colt out of a three time winning half-sister to Met winner Martial Eagle and dual Algoa Cup hero Nebula (Lot 31), and a filly (Lot 94) whose dam, a sister in blood to stakes winner sire Sun Central, is out of a half-sister to multiple G1 winning champions George Washington and Grandera.

Ideal World, sire of champions Hermoso Mundo and Smart Call, is the sire of Hammam (Lot 70). The latter is a half-brother to the stakes placed Jo Malone, and is out of a 3 time winning half-sister to two top Mauritian performers in World Focus and Green Keeper.

Master Of My Fate, one of the country’s leading first crop sires, has an intriguing daughter on offer in the form of Shoshana (Lot 13). Out of a five time winning daughter of emerging broodmare sire Tiger Ridge, Shoshana is closely inbred to Secret Pact (second dam of Master Of My Fate) and is from the same Soho Secret family as current sensation Hashtagyolo.

Champion Sprinter What A Winter is currently South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2yos, and he has a colt here (Lot 23) whose relatives include US champion Roving Boy and G1 winners A Wild Ride and Joyful Victory.
