PeterD wrote: Race 1: Go the Distance is the obvious one. Improvement can be expected from all of Creme de Menthe,Crowded House, Sugerpova and Victorious Girl for the quartets, as all put in fair debuts.Lucille has disappointed after a nice debut, and perhaps the extra distance is what she needs.
Race 2: Very competitive little field. Spring Man is better than his rating based on his Derby, and can make amends for his below par run last time. Any of the others are capable of winning.
Race 3: Spam Alert went close last time, and this may be her best opportunity to land her maiden, even though a wide draw to overcome. Negma looks the main danger in a weakish field. Nicky Noo and China Wolf have claims on best form. There are a couple of two year olds taking on open company, but I'll pass them by. Over You did not have the worst of debuts from a wide draw and should improve on that run.
Race 4: Quite a few of these are coming off breaks for vaccinations, so fitness is key. What a Joker is better than rated having run ok in the Derby, and is the first choice. Very open if he fails.
Race 5: Ladysmith is deep in the red- she is consistent and this is a weak maiden so this is her chance. Clifton Beach has a couple of lengths to find on her from their penultimate run, and although her last run was very poor, looks the main danger if you are looking for an upset.
Race 6: The scratching of Silver League throws this open.
Harvest Wind put up a pleasing debut, but was disappointing at his second start. He has been working well of late, and has scope for improvement. I am hoping that he can win, but am surprised to see him at 15/10 favourite. Count Rosberg and Giant Flag are inconsistent but capable at best. Marked White Night showed good improvement last time and must also be respected.
Race 7: Very open race. Amazingly can be relied on to set a decent pace. Bendy Bullet and Symphony look well in at the weights. Expedite won nicely at her second start and the runner-up that day has subsequently won. With natural improvement she could go in again, but has a nasty draw to contend with.
Race : A difficult fillies handicap to end the day. Bon Bon again gets a wide draw, but is very game and has a decent finishing kick. Step Out has still not regained her best form- if she decides to run, she is well in at the weights. Indian Song has not shown much improvement on her smart debut, but has the breeding to be decent, but also a poor draw here.
Rebel's Burst is an interesting runner- she tries ground and has good sprint form- if she stays then she is a runner here, and being out of a Giant's Causeway mare could well appreciate the trip.

Thanks Peter. See you at the course, Sir!

3 rd April Durbanville

#CrawfordRacing

Spring Man- In great form at home, he is over his preferred trip and weighted well- expecting a big run.

Negma - She has put up good work at home. Knocking on the door, and is overdue a win- expecting a big run today.

Over You - expecting improvement on her debut , but may need the experience again

Greenstreet Tractor - expecting a good effort today

Clifton Beach - topped back to 1400 expecting a better effort

Twice The Magic - Tries a little further , should suit , feel she will need one more before being competitive

Harvest Wind - working very well at home , has an outside chance,

Pre-race comments Durbanville 3 April Bass Racing

Crowded House
Event: Race 1, Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies)
Distance: 1400m
Pre-race comments: A bit disappointing last time. Improvement is expected over the extra.

Go The Distance
Event: Race 1, Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies)
Distance: 1400m
Pre-race comments: She is ready to win now and will be better suited to this distance.

Ballad Of The Sea
Event: Race 4, MR 80 Handicap
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Returns after a 3 month layoff. The mile is a bit sharp for him, but he should run well and could find the money.

What A Joker
Event: Race 4, MR 80 Handicap
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: First run back for the season, he is also looking for a bit further but should have a nice each way chance this company.

Dubai Queen
Event: Race 7, FM 74 Handicap (F & M)
Distance: 1400m
Pre-race comments: Chance again in a competitive handicap

Perfectproportions
Event: Race 7, FM 74 Handicap (F & M)
Distance: 1400m
Pre-race comments: Good first run out the maidens from a poor draw last time and is the stable elect here.

Indian Song
Event: Race 8, FM 68 Handicap (F & M)
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Were it not for her outside draw we would fancy her chances quite strongly here. Good each way chance.

Hopeful
Event: Race 8, FM 68 Handicap (F & M)
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Always consistent. Draw? Money chance.

Lady Sutton
Event: Race 8, FM 68 Handicap (F & M)
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: A bit short of her best and a bit unreliable, but she has ability and needs to be included in all bets.

I am at the course today.

Victorious Girl was the pick of the parade ring, for me. Looked fit and strong. Was taking things in her stride and not flustered

All the connections are here and Grant Behr confirmed to me that they are trying

16/10 a place is a good bet for me
