3 years ago today Lyle won the Work Riders challenge. Incredible to think that he could be crowned champion in 3 months

He in common with Felix Coetzee Garth Puller Piere Strydom Patrick McGivern
and a number of others could ride before that were apprenticed
Today many who arrive at the Academy have never been on a horse
I am not a golfer but I seem to remember an amateur finishing 2nd in the British
Open
The huge difference between the Pro and the Amateur is the constant competition
at a high level
This is visible in the Work Riders where the only centre that has many races for them
is Gauteng Cape Town has a few races and KZN is non existant

We have had so many good stories come out of the Jockeys ranks. one of the few highlights of SA racing in the last 20 years.

Khumalo good news story - Nedbank advert
Muzi top jock - issues off the track take away a bit
Teetan in HK
Vorster in Singapore
all the OZZIE jocks. Lloyd in particular.
Muscutt in the UK.
and now Hewitson nearly a shoe in for the title. well done to him all that supported him and James Maree(Legend of the Turf).
