7 years 4 weeks ago
Racing. It's a Rush: PRESS RELEASE
Subject: The Racing Association Feature Awards
Date: 14th May 2018
We always look forward to this time of year, the Joburg feature season has come and gone – almost as fast as the horses that performed on the race track, and we now look to see who the favourites through the summer months were. It’s also about recognising the key players that contributed through the year and this includes trainers, apprentices, jockeys, breeders, work riders and of course the owners.
The honours roll for our magnificent equine athletes is listed below and whilst they are all worthy contenders, there can only be one winner in each category.
v Champion two year old filly: Celtic Sea; Dagmar; Ronnie’s Candy
v Champion two year old colt/gelding: Bold Eagle; William the Silent
v Champion three year old filly: Folk Dance; Green Plains; Secret Potion; Takingthepeace
v Champion 3 year old colt/gelding: Hero’s Honour; Lobo’s Legend; Monkshood; Surcharge
v Champion older horse: Attenborough, Coral Fever; Legal Eagle; Liege; Nother Russia
v Champion sprinter: Attenborough; Pinnacle Peak; Tandava; The Thinker
v Champion Middle distance horse: Coral Fever; Legal Eagle; Monkshood; Nother Russia
v Champion Stayer: Fortissima; Hero’s Honour; Just Cruised In; Let it Rain; Secret Potion
The above nominees are eligible for the much sought-after Horse of the Season Award and there will also be the special awards, to industry people that have made, and continue to make, worthwhile contributions to this amazing industry.
Larry Wainstein, CEO of The Racing Association and Clyde Basel (Racing Executive- Phumelela) will be your hosts in the Aquanaut Room at Turffontein Racecourse on Wednesday, 23rd May.

Why shouldn’t Pinnacle Peak also be nominated for Champion 3-yo?

Re: Re:Pinnacle Peak nominated for the RA Awards
7 years 4 weeks agoI'm sure he was on that list, but the others overall have done slightly more than him in the 3yo category although his performance against older horses cant be argued with..Mac wrote: Why shouldn’t Pinnacle Peak also be nominated for Champion 3-yo?

I don’t think there will be any surprises when the awards are announced. Do hope Coral fever gets 1 though but that is hopeful.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!
