I went to the Rising Sun meeting. A few years ago and witnessed the same. Good luck to Sun for their marketing. However, how is this ‘sustainable’ racing? We now after the pensioners money?
I don’t see gold circle offering to bus everyone in every Saturday from all over.
The day I went most were interested in the side show on stage and winning a prize that was unrelated to gold circle or THEIR long term product.
I found the ‘side show’ and the level of noise totally taking away from the product. Which was why I was their. To support the racing and to bet.
Just my two cents.

And having said that - i see that flip side. Rather a sponsor then no sponsor..? Rather people there no people there for the media... otherwise we would see it for what it is. Another poorly attended Saturday meeting.

Must say thumbs up to the Rising Sun for staging such a lovely day for racing! From very very humble beginnings the family have endeavoured to give back to the community in some form or the other.
They SPONSOR THE RACE DAY
The senior citizens ARE BROUGHT IN FOR THE ENTERTANMENT and NOT TO ENCOURAGE them to gamble....
I had motherly figure ask me on course yesterday HOW DO THEY PLAY THE HORSES...I took a double FIRDOAS AND BAHARIN gave her the ticket and started to walk away and she said "what about the money'. Told her you need to cash the ticket and take the money home. My day was done!!!!!

Well done Dr R !
As I mentioned , there was a very good crowd around the ring and shouting horses home, grandstands full. This is in addition to the big crowd who were not there for the racing, being entertained in a different area. Thats the balance that I mentioned and that is why I think it was a good day for racing. Sorry if this upset anyone.
And it is quite remarkable, what Rising Sun has achieved as s Community Newspaper. They obviously have huge support from their readers.
