In truth though, my Dad informed me that the Rising Sun, a community based newspaper, invited members of the various senior citizens' clubs to the race-day - my Dad is not too mobile so didn't go but my Mum and some of her colleagues did go - not for the racing though...but the other events on the day at the course...

Its good that they invited the older generation out as sitting around must be boring. I know a bloke who is into his 80s and most days he jumps in his car and drives to Edinburgh for lunch as they make a huge fuss of him and he loves it.

It was a big Community Raceday. The Rising Sun newspaper bussed in many of the elderly and there were sideshows etc. A lot of people were there just for the event and not for Racing.

However, what impressed me was the huge attendance around the parade ring, the cheers for the Winners, public shouting their fancies home etc.

I think that the "balance" was very good, for Racing in KZN.
