Not sure if we will get through the whole meeting, but here goes anyway. Note that there is a strong tailwind.
Race 1: Lanza is a decent sort and I am not worried about the three month break as he has had the necessary work and just needs to reproduce his first run to go very close here. I prefer the 2yos in this race, although Strabo has had two good recent runs and Spy is better than his last run. The one we have to beat is Elusive Trader. Ladder Man and Hudoo Magic could be anything.
Race 2: I fancy Elusive Fort to sire the first double - Tropical Hibiscus has good form and although a wide draw should enjoy the trip. Rocket Girl has solid form and should be in the shakeup. Sparkeling Fire ran well course and trip and from a good draw must be respected.
Race 3: Sommersonne is the one to beat but very skinny price. Bell Jar and Neria are the dangers.
Race 4: Tricky race and I can’t have Ontenderhooks at the price. Flash Fire gets the 4kg claim and ran a fair race in soft going last time and isthe value ew.
Race 5: This should be too short for Seattle Gold. Made in Hollywood has good form but very skinny price.the two at the bottom of the weights are well in with the 4kg claims, and I like It Is What it Is here.
Race 6: Sun At Midnight has not earned this year, and she is coming to the end of her career, but there has been nothing wrong with her prep coming into this race and she has been dropped a couple of points. Clifton Beach has been leniently treated and I think she is ew value. Straat- Kind and Miss Smarty Pants are consistent and should be involved in the finish. Namibia will prefer this trip and can’t be ignored.
Race 7:Cyber Law is another that has been kindly treated by the handicapper and is a huge runner at the weights and good value at 12/1. Jailhouse Rock is on the upgrade but must give my selection 10kg. Spectra Force is consistent. Gimme a Cohiba is better than his last effort.
Race 8: Shall be Free is very game and will prefer this trip. On his penultimate run he must have an ew shout in a very competitive race. The improving 3yos should however prove too strong for the older horses here, and it all depends on which of them shows the most improvement.
