A few race by race thoughts :-

R1) - If not in need of the run, Lanza looks the one they have to beat. On exposed form, Strabo could follow Lanza home. Watch the betting on Ladder Man as both the exposed horses could conceivably need the run or run flat.

R2) - Two horse race between Rocket Girl who put up a really good effort in open company last time out, and Sparkeling Fire, (the spelling looks dodge), who made marked improvement over the course and distance last time out. Not sure how much can be read into that race as it was narrowed down to a three horse field, for that reason I will side with Rocket Girl.

R3) - Without seeing any betting, I make Royal Kiss the value, especially if the going comes up soft to heavy. She comes back in distance and from a decent draw I am hoping Domeyer can control the pace from the front. Bell Jar and Sommersonne are the obvious dangers.

R4) - Skip A Beat should win this, Ontenderhooks is a lively runner as well if staying the 2000m carrying 58.5kgs.

R5) - Made In Hollywood looks the right one in this contest, with Nordic Breeze to follow her home.

R6) - Miss Smarty Pants is holding form well, albeit taking on stronger, expect her to be involved in the finish, as well as Namibia and Straat-Kind.

R7) - Tricky race, marginally feel either Chatuchak or Jailhouse Rock should win this, but wouldn't be surprised if neither doesn't.

R8) - Will have a look later ......... Had a look, Bernie with the apprentice allowance could go very close here. Hemmingway and New Caledonia to fill the places.

Off topic, the soccer will only be enjoyed, from my perspective, if Germany win. There could be tears before bedtime :lol:, but I'll remain optimistic :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: (hopefully a goal for every woohoo)

I'm not convinced we will race today. Rain expected from around 10am onwards

Rain expected from 10h00 and it will rain continuously until 16h00. Heavily overcast and a strong Northwesterly in Rondebosch now. Sure looks like rain!
