Tigershark...why will those with tote accounts qualify...

I'm game but if I don't have a tote account then it means I'm out!!!!!

Month long and the winner from each month gets into the CHRISTMAS BASH (DECEMBER)!

I was giving input on the initial post, I assume "the powers that be" that Ruffian refers to would be the people who operate the Tote.

It would not be a tipping competition if you pick 1 winner per race or per day and get points as per the tote payout. Trainers Owners and or Jockeys will win this as per stable information and betting coups, horses entered to win at long odds..

To have a real tipping competition every participant must actually tip 3 horses per race and get points for nominating these horses to run 1st 2nd or 3rd and get points for having tip one or all as finishing in the top 3 as well as getting a point for tipping a certain horse as per your 1st 2nd and 3rd horse in the actual correct finishing order.

Pay out and odds should not be a factor as the competition is then open for manupilation and possible fraud..... and the normal punter would not stand a chance of winning or even get close in this competetion by not having inside information or a hand in the training or jockeying of a horse you actually picked.

As a 55 year old punter and forensic auditor, I have played my own competition against myself over the years against newspaper tipsters and the best way to go about this and my suggestion is to chose one racemeeting over a weekend for 52 weeks, chose your 1, 2, 3rd horse per race for that particular meeting as nominated by the organisers and get get 3, 2 and 1 points for chosing the horses who actually finish in the top 3 as chosen by by you.

So if any off your pics won a race you get 3 points, 2 points for picking the 2nd horse, 1 for picing the 3rd.

You can thus earn 6 points per race. In addidion to you picking a horse and earn points as above, you will get a 3, 2, 1 bonus points for picking a horse for finishing as per your exact selection, say you picked no 7 to run second, you would score 2 points for picking it and as a bonus another 2 points for predicting it to run second, so in the event of picking 3 horses but not in the correct finishing order, you get 6 points, but picking it as a 1st 2nd and 3 rd exactly would score you another 6 bonus points....

This is the only way of leveling the playing field as when you have to pick 3 horses per race over a racemeeting and not the one horse your trainer told you about, a horse that was prepped to win on a certain day at a certain (big) price. Thats not tipping!

Facebook and on course tipsters would pick 7 horses a race and believe they are IT if they manage to mention the winner, just recently a Greyville commentator "tipped" a huge outsider to win a race 5 seconds before the off... just to tell the public afterwards that the trainer told him the horse will run a big race! The commentator would have won any competition with this info. Is that tipping?

July day race 8 Trainer Bosch was quoted in newspapers to have said his best runner on the day was in race 8 no 3 Founding Father, and we all know the result, his other horse Kazaar, a huge runner on the day, won as he liked. Perhaps a case of misleading punters and tipsters? Who would have tipped and punt Kazaar after the trainer of the horse advise otherwise and straight out not only said that Founding Father is the best of the 3/4 horses he had running in race 8, but also the best horse he is running on the day?... 6points for Mr Bosh as per my sistem and 3 for me beleiving him, I stupidly change my first selection to Founding Father who ran 11th... I lost a 50% pick 6, 100% jackpot and a 25x p.a as a result of a trainers inability to judge his own horse.. and my stupidity....

Lets have a real tipping comp and not a competition off who knows who in the zoo in order to tip and play a winning horse only a few previledge persons know about.... or a huge runner not trying....
