Proposal: 1 Million Rand Tipster Contest

Proposal to the powers that be:
A year-long tipping contest.
Entry: R5000 per contestant.
Total Prize Money R1 Million (or more if entries exceed).
Contestants furnish real names (no pseudonyms).
All tips visible on the website before racing begins.

While 5000 may seem steep, there is still a benefit to those that can't afford it. They get to follow their favourite tipsters (and hot tipsters) for free.

Unfortunately it is a proven fact that competitions that run over inordinately long periods of time struggle to retain interest.

It might be a better idea idea to have a month by month contest where the top 5 or 10 contestants each month all qualify to compete in a year end, month long 'playoff'.

In this way you would have monthly winners plus the opportunity to compete in the 'big one'. Obviously it does not promote the same level of consistency but it might be quite a slog to keep going for a full year.

Titch has a very very very good idea for a competition and i fact we ran one for The July meeting.

I am keen .

I would limit the competition to Feature race days.

Surely a good way would be to have a spend per month and a minimum of bets.
Say R10,000 and 10 bets , no exotics, win and place only

Then surely a jockey would then win....

BTW Ruffian, it is a great idea;
1. All Tote customers with an account qualify and have a buy in for weekly, monthly and an annual prize.
2. Weekly and monthly lucky draws for those who opt not to buy in.
3. The punters that buy in must punt on at least one race meeting a week and on all of the feature race days. Wins & Places only with a minimum of 7 races and all races on feature days.
4. The annual competition pays down to 20th place and you can also run a trifecta bet on the eventual top 3 punters.
5. Offer regional teams of 3 to keep the rivalry interesting.

12/10 The Rest
