The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 5 September 2018 jockey Sandile Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.2.4.

This arose in that on 31 August 2018 Jockey Khathi took into and used a cellular telephone while inside the jockeys’ quarters at Fairview Racecourse.
Jockey Khathi pleaded guilty to the charge. The Inquiry Board found jockey Khathi guilty and imposed a penalty of a fine of R5,000.
Jockey Khathi has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
