Yep in my opinion a lot of parallels can be drawn between whats happened to racing and whats happened in other public and private institutions.

.....not looking to good for future stakes though.....as this formulation is going to be getting much less in the next/current racing season.....we have to wait until next month to see PHUM financials and then see the differential......as there is already a shortfall from the Racing Trust share dividend from the R A financials.....

Re: PE groom action
6 years 8 months ago......we await the grand bailout plan....after PHUM has chewed up every asset.....and driven the rest into a pitiful state.....what will they then spit out.....all this while the so called protector of owners rights... the ever present ....its good for racing....none other than.... the RA.... that did absolutely nothing.....:blink:oscar wrote: Thanks Muhti much appreciated.
My call horse racing in SA is in trouble, all I see are groom strikes, horses getting hurt on hard tracks, jockeys having serious falls, racing venues being changed, administrator problems, operators wanting out of the actual racing management, owners being ignored, costs to trainers up, breeders giving away horses for nothing and up and more. The infrastructure is falling apart due to cost of upkeep too high, the "strategy" of providing punters something to bet on 24/7 is being adhered to no matter what..its a shame, a real shame.

Grooms at the training centre at Fairview Racecourse have returned to work after downing tools on Monday and demanding their wages be increased to a minimum of R1,000 a week.

Phumelela management representatives, Eastern Cape chief stipendiary steward Thulani Khanyile and Racing Association national director Peter Naidoo, representing the National Grooms’ Association, facilitated successful wage negotiations between trainers and grooms today.
Grooms went back to work this afternoon and Luciano Passerini, Phumelela’s Eastern Cape racing manager, said that “both trainers and grooms were delighted that the wage deadlock had been broken”.
