I must say 740.... that’s 100 hundred rands a day or 6 pounds a day. Can anyone survive on that.I know everything is tight but stakes with inflation is way to short, trainers and owners need to take mass action.Years ago when I first started with owning a second place paid for a few months training, mass action from trainers and owners is needed.
I remember the days of the turf club where a dividend was the object and now we have so many overpaid people on the g train and money not going into stakes.

As a owner I want to see that stakes agreement.. what is stopping Weinstein from sharing it with the RA members?? Is it constitutional to so called “keep it secret “.. I think a group of owners and trainers need to test this really

I've seen excuses like, "we only race once a week in PE, "stakes are not as high in PE", to try and justify the appallingly low wage grooms are paid in that part of the world. Whose fault is that ? Many of these same people (trainers, owners and "racing personalities") have sat idly by and watched Phumelela sell and strip their assets and deprive them of the stakes agreement and are now squealing at the prospect of paying grooms R1000 per week. Don't blame the EFF or the grooms for requesting an inkling of a living wage. Why don't the racing stakeholders (yes, that includes trainers, owners, grooms, jockeys, breeders) rather unite and force Phumelela to abide by its obligations. The only “us” and "them" and should be horseracing v corporate greed.

.....not really that secret or is it.....copied and pasted from Turf Talk and will try post what was declared as a dividend from this year end R A financials which I posted under R A members thread that not many gave any input.....
Turf Talk: Can you give us a breakdown of this year’s(2017) Stakes Pot?
Wainstein: This calendar year’s Stakes Pot amounts to approximately R261-million:
(Rounded Off):
-30% from Phumelela – R121,000,0000
-20% from soccer and other sports – R45,000,000
-30% (of 3%) from Bookmakers’ Levies – R20,000,000
-30% of unclaimed dividends – R6,800,000
-15% of Low Payout Machines – R122,000
-30% from Gold Circle/Royalties: R37,000,000
-30% from Isle Of Man – R9,300,000
-30% of Fixed Odds Betting: R5,100,000
An additional R17,3-million was added to this pot from the Racing Trust (made up of 80% of the Trusts annual share dividends, as noted above).
......with a reduction of total share holding and at a lower share price.....how is the Racing trust able to continue kick these profits from share dividends into the stakes pot....

Thanks Muhti much appreciated.
My call horse racing in SA is in trouble, all I see are groom strikes, horses getting hurt on hard tracks, jockeys having serious falls, racing venues being changed, administrator problems, operators wanting out of the actual racing management, owners being ignored, costs to trainers up, breeders giving away horses for nothing and up and more. The infrastructure is falling apart due to cost of upkeep too high, the "strategy" of providing punters something to bet on 24/7 is being adhered to no matter what..its a shame, a real shame.

When grooms are getting paid 550 per week there is something way wrong
