Woodie and Gavin could have more than a couple on the day.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Tricky card , so looking for value
Race 8: Sporting Monarch dropped 16 points last couple starts , jockey booking catches the eye , at around 12/1 worth an e/way nibble

Race 3 : Pilou ,horse is dropping in ratings and is highly regarded rated by the trainer , worth an e/way nibble at 12/1

Race 1 : Kalahari Chrome , this yard is coming to form , top 2 in betting have tricky draws to negotiate , which could give this one first run on them @ 8/1 worth a nibble

Summer has certainly arrived and with it the first time in a while that racing takes place on the stand side track - and some races under the lights as well; does make it more difficult imo as no one knows where the best draw will be down the straight and if some runners will be affected by the lights ....

R2: Looks a straight forward match between Solemn Promise and Out of Sight; Andiamo for third

R3: Handicap, so probably more open than it would appear at first; Atyaab won well against very capable opposition and imo should be better than rated - however he did take some time to get going and it could be that the 1600 is a the bottom end if his range - and he could need it a bit as well; Morning Catch also seems a bit better than rated and is an inclusion for me with Shogun who may have just needed that last outing; Orapa won well last time but this is stronger imo; Pilou has found support in the market, but needs to show more for me; roughie to include for the places is So Long Spring who ran to quite a lot higher than his rating in his last start against strong opposition

R4: The Rising Legend keeps on improving and he will have to do so again today as some of his opponents could now have his measure at the weights; nothing between him and Orpheus on their last meeting, but I think TRL will finish in front of O again over the 1800; Top Shot is effective here and is sure to make his presence felt at double figure odds; Forafewdollars more is obviously better over further, but looks very well in at the weights, so not to be ignored and Come the Day is another who ran to higher that rated in his last start in a Pinnacle Plate; for me Silver God has to find more and is yet to prove that he gets 1800

R5: Interesting race which imo lies between Iditarod Trail and Bien Venue; BV for me has the better form against Soqrat when that one was at this peak, while IT did run close to Alyaasaat, but that was A's comeback after a break - so I think BV wil beat IT; Leftrightgoodnight is a bit of a dark horse who is better than rated imo; but the market is suggesting that he will need a run or two after more than a year off the track; Rivonia Boulevard, Gunston and Virginia next best imo

R6: Toughest race on the card by some way - my shortlist starts with Lily Theresa, Eleni and Boss Babe and Free and Easy, but even runners down at the bottom of the boards like La Bastide can upset

R7: May well have to start taking some chances somewhere and Tudor Manor for me does look a bit better than this field; Sporting Monarch keeps on dropping in the ratings and sure will pop up one of these days; Concealed Secret was mentioned by the stable as a contender; those would be my top 3, with Autumn Rain and Manitoba next best

R8: Schippers take on the boys, must have chance but much too short in the market imo; if one looks past her, it becomes much of a muchness; one that could upset the apple cart imo is Battle Creek - some very good earlier form behind Pinnacle Peak and Rebel's Champ; Greasepaint will run without blinkers and is another who has a bigger chance imo than the odds would suggest

R9: Competitive close; really bit of a guessing game as to which one's maiden win is the stronger; I think Gimmeawave might be drawn on the right side and would be my first choice, but all of Royal Cavalier; Big Blue Marble and the filly Ilha de Varlette could also be good enough; Topmast another not to be ignored imo

Enjoy B)
