Race 1: It’s hard to imagine that a horse that can’t win in PE will win a CT maiden at this time of year, so I can’t have Straw Rum. FeeFiFoeFum and Indi Anna fair debuts and should improve. The winner likely to come from one of the first timers.
Race 2: Gimmetherain two good runs and will be right there. Northern Spy good debut and must be respected. Kotzen very bullish on Duc D’Orange and could be anything.
Race 3: Dubula, Dragon Power and Spy all fair form, but again need to respect the first timers.
Race 4: Cash Call scratching throws this open. The penny seemed to drop for Carlton Heights last time and he looks good value at 10/1. Senatla, Retro Effect and Star of Zeus have decent form. VForVictory could be anything.
Race 5: Hemero ran 6kg above her rating last time in a decent feature, and could not get a penalty. A repeat of that and she wins. My best bet of the day at 28/10. Strawberry Wine is on the up and is the danger.
Race 6: A very open handicap. Palo Alto has plummeted in the ratings and looks fair value at 9/1.
Race 7: If Captains Treasure returns to best she is a big runner at the weights, but otherwise a very open race.
Race 8: Bestday of Mylife won well last time and can win again. Captainofthesea is decent and must be respected. Northern Route hard to assess. Very open if the 3year olds are not good enough.

How many of the Crawford first timers has Marcus won on? In the middle 90's he did the same thing with a few Kruyer horses up on the highveld.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
