Not sure of the price, Temple Grafin, no seconds.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I have Zanadu competing in the 17:25 over 2000m @ Kenilworth. Here’s what you need to know :
Firstly – some background to Saturday’s outing:
She hasn’t raced since June 22nd in the PE Gold Cup over 3600m. We entered her there to determine whether she actually does get 2 miles +. Despite losing our preferred jockey due to a motor accident mere days before the event she put up a creditable performance. Her 4th position at the finish could be largely attributed to a very average ride by the replacement rider. Had everything dropped her way & she had been ridden to instructions I believe she would have finished a comfortable 2nd.
Her return to Cape Town was delayed by over 2 months because of the unexpected outbreak of African Horse Sickness. Consequently we took the opportunity to rest her whilst she loitered in PE.
Her outing on Saturday is her final preparation for her next mission : The Chairman’s Cup over 3200m at Kenilworth on January 5th.
Why you should consider her for this race :
1.) She is very close to full match fitness
2.) She has reached physical maturity & has furnished out well
3.) The field is a lot weaker than I initially thought it was
4.) She has always been sound. I simply didn’t permit her to be put under pressure as a young horse with staying potential. That’s why she has reached 5 with only about a dozen runs to her name.
Why you should ignore her :
1.) First run back after a rest so we are not 100% certain exactly how ready she is
2.) The yard has not had a winner this season and her rider only about 8 rides. Lol.
3.) 2000m is her absolute minimum distance
4.) I think she may be carrying a tiny bit of condition although it is perhaps dangerous to draw that conclusion before seeing her in the ring on Saturday.
Please be reminded that I do not punt horses in my ownership.

Sand and Sea- has needed gelding for ages - still not convinced he is sprinter - like to see him try a mile as a gelding but this race is going to be a good gauge as to where he is

Course will be running quite fast today, with a fresh headwind expected.
Race 1: Empire Glory ran well enough last week and with the two key scratchings will win if he can reproduce that effort.
Race 2: The two Progress races were originally programmed for 3yo only- they are now open to all ages and the 3 yo’s get only 1kg instead of of 5kg WFA allowance. This has chased away most of the 3yos, so the change really a dumb move by the operator. Speedpoint and Sand and Sea are very well in at the weights, but the well-being of both is uncertain. Pleasedtomeetyou beat Lanza a length last time and there should again not be much between them. We are running Lanza here because he drew very wide in the Concord, and it is still another 4 weeks to the Guineas. He is fit and well. Clipper Captain did not seem to see out the 1400m last time when well beaten by these two, but he gets 3kg and that brings him right up to them.
Race 3: A very tricky race with a number of improving 3yos that could win. Cabo Da Cruz, Cash Call, Ladder Man, Big Fish have ok draws and are the principals. Master of Spain has a horrible draw to overcome and still a big field of 15 despite the scratchings. Perhaps Bernard can weave some magic, as he would have been a big runner if better drawn.
Race 4: The 3yos should dominate this race. Quest was an impressive winner last time, but Fourie takes the ride on Belgarion. Caliente has good Durban form and a nice draw. Forty Days has come through his break for vaccinations well, and had a nice grass gallop a week ago. He should enjoy the extra 200m, and this race will tell us how good he is.
Race 5: Two of the three older fillies are 3 time winners, and so the better 3 yo’s who are one and two time winners are fairly well in despite not getting proper WFA allowance. Temple Grafin has a lot of speed and is my first choice but the price is skinny as Miss Katalin and Sugar Girl are weighted to be right on top of her.
Race 6: A very open fillies handicap. Perhaps Expedite and Raya Baya for the PA.
Race 7: Another very open handicap, and a couple of the more fancied runners have wide draws to overcome, although less of an issue this trip. Angel of Athens got no help from the jockey or the draw last time at Durbanville. Expecting a better run today with a top jock and this course, but again a wide draw.
Race 8: The scratchings make this a lot easier- Princess Irene now looks hard to beat and main danger Merkaba has a wide draw. Grey Mistress and Over the Way should make up the quartet.
