the real Mr Hawaii has always been here TS pity you think everyone is out to get you or manipulate situations - there are other clansmen that do know me far better than you do and they will attest to the fact that i dance to my own tune hence the reason i can post freely on ABC and any other forum - perhaps when you and i are both racing again we can find some common ground

Whether whose right and whose wrong something good has come out of it. Maybe a little longer then usual but the result is positive.

Imvho the RA is scratching around for ways to convince members that they are doing enough to justify the huge increase in member fees; 'look what we did for you'.
My feeling is that they are trying hard, but not doing NEARLY enough:
If they have indeed been instrumental in getting the lights to go ahead, I say well done; however this applies to ALL owners, whether they are RA members or not.
They also claim to continually strive for increased stakes; well done, but again, this applies to ALL owners, not only RA members.
And so I can go on, I cannot find one accomplishment that has been beneficial to SPECIFICALLY RA members; so can someone please answer my question:
HOW DO I BEBEFIT BY BEING A MEMBER OF THE RA?

The higher the members' fees, the tighter the 'inner circle'.
I would rather see 1600 members at R300 than 500 members at R1000.

With respect TS, what about other race tracks around the world that have stables and night racing as well? Are they not taking the 'best interest' of the horse into account?

Thanks TS, for your explanation; you mention that 'There is no exact scientific proof that the horses at Turffontein will not in any way be affected should night racing occur'; not trying to defend Phum/RA, but I suppose they can counter the argument by saying that 'There is no exact scientific proof that the horses at Turffontein WILL in fact be affected should night racing occur'
I suppose one can argue this till the cows come, but I for one am in favour of night racing, but against night racing AT TURFFONTEIN due to the security issues; I remain unconvinced however that the horses will be affected; the horses that traveled to Newmarket to race (and stayed for most if not all of the meeting) did not seem to be materially affected by the lights / noise/ whatever else. Or am I wrong?

When the horses travelled it was only the travelling horses that were affected. With racing at the Big T is will be ALL horses stabled there that will be affected, regardless of whether or not they are runners.
That is a big difference. There were no horses stabled next to the track at Newmarket or currently at Greyville.

Gajima,
But that's my point / question: WERE the traveling horses affected?

ts you should know by now that in the majority of situations the horse always comes last ,and with phums attitude up to now nothing will change as they are just the same as a slot machine...a tool to make money no matter the consequences

Try standing beside the stables at the start of the 1160m or 1000m races at the Big T during the day and you will see how the non-competing horses are affected by a start. They know what is going on. This will disturb their rest at night when they should be resting. Add to that the bright lights and you have a recipe for non-competing horses to be negatively affected by the night racing.
I think that is the point that TS was making.
The competing horses are obviously not disturbed as they are not resting for the evening, they have travelled to the races.
There is no doubt that the Big T horses will be negatively affected by night racing.

Thx Gajima, I get the point, still this will only happen one night per week until 22:00.
bBt this is another argument against night racing at Turffies, and I agree with Catsmug among others that it was not necesary to get rid of a perfectly workable situation (Newmarket) and now having to deal with compromises at huge cost.
