what is expected to be Winx’s penultimate race this Saturday.
MARCH 22, 2019
The TAB has reported three separate wagers from one punter this week, confident Winx will make it 32 wins in a row in the Group One George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.
On Monday, the punter had $150,000 at $1.10 (all-in), then another $150,000 at $1.06 (final field) on Wednesday, followed by another $100,000 on Friday at $1.06.
The punter stands to profit $30,000 should Winx salute in the $1 million race.
Meanwhile, Ladbrokes has reported one of their customers has placed $310,000 on Winx at $1.20, for a potential profit of $62,000.
Winx can take her prizemoney above the $24 million mark if she secures her 36th career win on Saturday.
For the first time since the 2017 Turnbull Stakes, Winx is taking on a field of ‘first-timers’ – that is, she is yet to race against any of her seven rivals in the George Ryder.
Other races in her current winning streak which saw Winx’s rivals all having their first crack at her include the 2015 Sunshine Coast Guineas, and her first Cox Plate win later that year.
