"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon Session' Thursday 24 July Workings.
16 years 10 months ago
Afternoon.
This afternoon completed and went as follows:
The 1st runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 1.91 on arrival and then dropping down to us and beyond under good support, we had a lay at 1.7 max. The lay looked in trouble at one stage, but dug in and won well in the end, so the late money spot on and the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it........
The 2nd runner we wanted 3.2, and with getting around 2.84 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.84. The lay was beaten and so a good result........
The 3rd runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 1.82 on arrival and then dropping down to us and slightly beyond under good support, we had a lay at 1.7 max. The lay absolutely hacked up and made layers look like idiots, so we'll take that on the chin and move on..........
The 4th runner we wanted 2.0, and with drifting to around 2.56 on arrival and then a non runner and 18.3% reduction, we now wanted a lay price of 1.82. The price was still high and never came anywhere near our lay price, so a race for race to racers to avoid. The runner was beaten and so the drift beat race to racers to the punch. Grr. Early traders happy though.......
The 5th runner we wanted 3.3, and with being around 3.55 on arrival and only getting bigger, we all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten and so 'one that got away in hindsight'........
The 6th runner we wanted 3.1, and with being a well supported 2.56 on arrival and shortening, we had a lay at 2.56 max. The lay went and won a tight finish, so the way it goes. Traders did get their trade back prices in running, so got away with it........
The 7th runner we wanted 1.2, and with being around 1.5 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage, we all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten, so a surprise result to be fair, and 'one that got away in hindsight'..........
The 8th runner we wanted 3.0, and with being a well supported 2.58 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.58. The lay went and won, so the way it goes. Traders got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it.........
The 9th runner we wanted 3.3, but a non runner and 18.2% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.88. The price was around 2.6 on arrival and so we had a lay at 2.6. The lay was beaten and so a good result.......
The 10th runner we wanted 2.32, but a non runner and 3.1% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.28. There was then another non runner and further 4.5% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.22. The price was around 2.3 on arrival and then dropped down to us and slightly beyond, so we had a lay at 2.22 max. The lay was beaten and so a good result..........
The 11th runner we wanted 2.7, but a non runner and 3.4% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.64. There was then another non runner and further 10.5% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.47. The price was around 2.32 on arrival and so we had a lay at 2.32. The price then went for a walk and out to our own price of 2.77 (was 3.0 before reductions) and so a chance for traders (builders finished now) to have a 'free' lay before the race. The lay/trade was beaten after a close finish, so a good result.........
The 12th and final runner we wanted 2.32, and with being around 2.9 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage, it was a race to avoid for all. The runner went and won, so a nice priced winner, but more importantly a good leave........
WELL BATTLED........................(2 from the first 3 (66.66%) went and won - 3 from the first 6 (50%) went and won - 4 from the first 8 (50%) went and won - So a tough start and middle for us today, but although that was bad, it was the drifters in between that made us sweat more. Anyhow, it happens now and then and we did all we could)
'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) had to concede 3 targets.............They started their 1st strategy/target on the 1st runner, and after a battle with winners and drifters, they ended the session conceding 3 targets after their 5th lay (the 8th runner).........They then found themselves with an insufficient amount left to start another, so end the session 3 down.......
'Bank building' strategy/target players had their 1st lay (the 1st runner) at 1.7 max, but a poor result see them go behind early.........They then had their 2nd lay (the 2nd runner) at 2.84, and a good result see them win a chunk back...........They then had their 3rd lay (the 3rd runner) at 1.7 max, but a poor result see them give a bit more away.........Then came their 4th lay (the 6th runner) at 2.56, but a poor result see 4 runner builders end with conceding 0.5 of a target at worst, so not bad with 3 from the 4 winning..........
5 runner builders played on and had their 5th lay (the 8th runner) at 2.58, but a poor result see them concede 3 targets at worst on the session....

'Traders' had to concede a tiny bit on the 3rd runner at 1.7 max, but all others see them win a bit, or break level, so they win a little on the session and well played guys..
So 4 runner builders faired the best with a tiny defeat, but 5 runner builders and rollers had no chance against the drifters and winners to concede 3 targets. So not a good session, but it happens and they'll go into this evening looking at rectifying that... Speak soon..
Marc.
