Viv Greybe:
The trainer-jockey combination of Corrie Lensley and Muzi Yeni could come out firing at Flamingo Park on Monday when Dame Judith steps out in Race 1, a Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1000m.
FEBRUARY 3, 2019
This three-year-old showed vast improvement in her penultimate outing when third over 1000m with Collen Storey up. Yeni partnered the filly next time, when she was backed and finished third out of 14 over the same distance – but that run should be overlooked as she was bumped at start. With better luck in the running, she could recoup losses.
Lensley will also be hoping for better luck with Bugle Player (Yeni) in Race 2, a 1400m Maiden Plate. The gelding was a runner-up three times with Yeni up in his last four outings – the last of which was an unlucky second when hampered by a slipped saddle. This three-year-old has a bright chance to go one better this time.
Following Cliffie Miller-trained Phil’s Power (Collen Storey) could be the way to go in Race 3, a 1600m MR 78 Handicap. This four-time winner has not been out of the money in his last eight starts – six of which saw him in the runner-up spot. This four-year-old was not disgraced in his most recent outing when third in a 1400m Pinnacle Stakes. He will be tough to beat this time when taking on lesser opposition.
Another bright prospect is Stephanie Miller-trained Hammie’s Game (Ryan Munger) who contests Race 5, a 2200m MR 71 Handicap. This six-year-old comes off two promising runs when a runner-up over 2200m and 1800m. Though slightly up in class, he could crack his third career win with only 52.5kg to shoulder.
Go with Bill Human-trained Polly Again (apprentice Nathan Klink) in Race 6, a MR 68 Handicap (F&M) over 1400m. This three-time winning mare showed smart form in her last three outings with this claiming apprentice aboard – scoring decisively over 1800m and following up with a good second over 1400m, and then justifying favouritism with a clear-cut win over 1600m in a MR 76 Handicap. She could be up to the task again.
