TRAINER Comments & Nadine’s selections :
RACE 1 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
4 / 1 / 3 / 10
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 3 - PRINCESS BLITZ : She ran a cracker in
her first start for the yard last time out. If she repeats that effort
now on grass, we are expecting her to be in with a shout. She loves
the 1000m trip.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 4, 8, 11 and 16 - DESERT WANDERER,
HURRICANCE SASHA, MARIE ANTOINETTE & MAID SO FAR : Desert Wanderer is
honest, she can place. Hurricane Sasha is also always trying and could
manage the back end of quartets. Marie Antoinette has her first run
for the yard, we are hoping for improvement but she does need further.
Maid so Far is Kyle Strydom’s very first race ride. She could run into
the back end of quartets.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 5 and 7 - WAIT A SEC & GINGER ROCK : Wait a
Sec is always thereabouts and has a chance. Ginger Rock has fair form
and a place chance.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 6 - COZY CHESTNUT : Hoping for improvement.
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Number 9 - EESHARA : She is better on the Poly,
but is working well and in an open field could place.
RACE 2 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
2 / 9 / 3 / 7
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 2, 6 and 10 - BIG BAY, GOLD DRAGON & TRIAL
RUN : Big Bay ran a fair race first time out and improvement is
expected. Gold Dragon may still be green, he could place. Trial run
will enjoy 1200m.
MONTANNA TURNER (GEORGE UREN) - Numbers 4 and 7 - FRED THE RED &
LINDEN ROCK : Fred the Red was green on debut, he is working well and
we are hoping for improvement. Linden Rock is working well and tries
the blinkers.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 8 - LUMOS : We never push our babies into
their first runs, so this will be an educational outing. In saying
that if he’s not green, we would like to see him running on late and a
cheque would be a bonus.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 1, 3, 5 and 9 - ALRIGHT JACK, BLACK KNIGHT,
GIACOMO & MIO GRANDE : Hoping for improvement from Alright Jack. Black
Knight, Giacomo and Mio Grande have their first runs.
RACE 3 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
1 / 5 / 11 / 3
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 9 - CAPTAIN CARLOS & BRIGADOON ELY :
Captain Carlos needed his first run in PE and improvement is expected.
Brigadoon Ely has his first run, he may still be green, but is working
well and can place.
MONTANNA TURNER (GEORGE UREN) - Numbers 2, 5 and 8 - GRAVITATION,
DAY’S OF THUNDER & THE DONEGAL MAN : Gravitation is well and we are
expecting a good run from him. Day’s of Thunder has his own mind and
hopefully the blinkers that he tries get his mind on the job because
if he brings his track work he will run very well. The Donegal Man
could perhaps place.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 4 and 6 - MASTER DESIGN & ENGADINE : Both
horses ran good races over further last time out and could find this
short. The field is an open one which could still give them place
potential.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 11 - HIDDEN POWER : She is always thereabouts
and should be in the mix again here.
RACE 4 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
6 / 2 / 7 / 8
TARA LAING - Number 2 - REINE TONNERRE : She is back to a better
distance, she’s good a good chance.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6 - LIGHT ON HER TOES, DOUBLE
BLACK, LANDELA & DELIA’S DELIGHT : Light on her Toes is consistent and
has a chance again here. Double Black is also an honest sort and has
claims. Landela has gone a little off form and I hope she can bounce
back. Delia’s Delight won well against weaker in her last and was
given a hefty eight points. She takes on stronger but can still be
competitive.
GAVIN SMITH - Number 7 - REDBERRY WOOD : She has her first run for
the yard. This could be sharp for her but she is a lovely filly.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 8 - SMOKEY AFFAIR : We do believe she will
run well. Ideally an extra furlong would be great, but she is super
honest, has dropped in the ratings and will give a good account of
herself.
RACE 5 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
6 / 4 / 3 / 1
ALAN GREEFF - Number 4 - DAMARALAND : She has an each way chance.
MONTANNA TURNER (GEORGE UREN) - Number 5 - ALL THE SEVENS : Things
didn’t go his way in his last and even though it was a tough field, we
had expected better from him. Put a line through that run, he has a
chance.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 6 - JUST MY STYLE : She has definitely got
the weight advantage. The only concern would be that this is on the
short side for her, but she always tries and a good run is expected.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 8 - ARMSTRONG’S BOY : Hoping for improvement.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 1 and 7 - MASTERFUL & WILDCAT : Masterful
enjoys track and trip. Wildcat was interfered with in his last and
better is expected.
RACE 6 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
4 / 3 / 1 / 10
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 1 - LUCKY LULU : She loves course and
distance and will be competitive.
SHARON KOTZEN - Numbers 3, 4, 7 and 9 - SEEKING WISDOM, ANGEL OF
ATHENS, DATA LINK & PIN UP FOLD : All four fillies are expected to run
well. Seeking Wisdom is super honest and loves course and distance.
Angel of Athens has run three good races for the yard so far, she was
very unlucky in her last and is definitely a runner. Data Link is a
genuine stayer and would probably appreciate a bit further, but she’s
got the draw and is always trying. Pin up Fold is fit and well and
loves this type of trip.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 5 - FOOLS GARDEN : She can run into quartets.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Number 10 - ONESIE : She is lightly weighted and
though in a competitive field, she could pop up.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 2 and 8 - SILVER GOBLET & GITANGO TONIGHT :
Silver Goblet has her first run back after a lengthy rest and may
still need it. Gitango Tonight has fair enough form over track and
trip.
RACE 7 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
6 / 2 / 4 / 7
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 6 and 9 - FRIKKIE & OMAHA TRIBE :
Frikkie is in good form and he is a runner. Omaha Tribe could find
this tough.
TARA LAING - Numbers 2, 3 and 4 - GO DIRECT, SHEET WEAVER & PLANO :
Go Direct is carrying a heavy weight, but he will be well suited to
this distance and has a good chance. Sheet Weaver has done won over
this trip, but is probably better suited to even further. Plano is
much better over this type of trip and must have a good chance.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 5 and 8 - EVOLVER & CHAPPAQUIDDICK : Evolver
won a gutsy race in his last, he takes on stronger. Chappaquiddick is
effective over this trip and further and is working well.
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 7 - MULTI GOLD : He has no weight to carry
and is a proven stayer, he has a chance.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 1 - FIRE IN THE BELLY : He ran a respectable
last race and can earn.
RACE 8 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
4 / 1 / 2 / 3
GRANT PADDOCK - Numbers 1, 3 and 8 - COUNTRY ROCK, BAKKIES &
KEANAN’S ROCK : Country Rock is working well, but I do feel the mile
is just short of his best. This run is a Derby prep, he is fit and
well and has a place chance. I think Bakkies will enjoy the turf,
which he tries for the first time in PE. He has put up good grass
gallops and he can also earn. Hoping for improvement from Keanan’s
Rock.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 4, 10 and 11 - JUDD’S ROCKET, SUNDAY FALLS &
HARINGTON PORT : Judd’s Rocket needed his first locally and had to
deal with the switch to a Poly sprint. He will be better over this
distance. Sunday Falls is consistent over track and trip and can be
thereabouts again. Harington Port
SHARON KOTZEN - Number 5 - THE GOON SHOW : We think he will run well
and that he can manage a quartet result.
ALAN GREEFF - Number 6 - ADALFIERI : Place chance.
TARA LAING - Number 13 - KISS ME TWICE : He has dropped a lot in the
merit ratings and could run into the quartets.
MONTANNA TURNER (GEORGE UREN) - Number 14 - ST JOSEPH : His recent
form is fair and he is working very well.
RACE 9 :
1ST FOUR SELECTIONS :
12 / 9 / 8 / 2
DUNCAN MCKENZIE - Numbers 2 and 13 - STRAWBERRY GIRL & BUSHY PARK
: Strawberry Girl loves the 1000m trip and has a chance here. I’m
hoping Bushy Park gets a jockey as she is knocking, always gives of
her best and will run well.
TARA LAING - Numbers 3 and 11 - STAR ANGEL & HONEY SUITE : They have
both dropped in the ratings and could have a chance here as a result.
ALAN GREEFF - Numbers 4, 7, 8, 9, 17 and 18 - SHEPARD’S DELIGHT,
TSESSEBE, BUTTERFLY SPIRIT, DISTANT CALL, CAPAILL & POPINJAY :
Shepard’s Delight is inconsistent but can pop up. Tsessebe must still
prove herself on turf, but she is down in the ratings. Butterfly
Spirit ran a good second in her last and has a chance again. Distant
Call had excuses for her last and is expected to get a lot closer.
Capaill could appreciate being back to course and distance that she
ran well over on local debut. Popinjay could manage a minor placing.
GAVIN SMITH - Numbers 6, 10 and 15 - JOKING, KILLALA & PEPPER DUST :
Joking’s rating drop has helped, the blinkers are on and she has a
place chance. Both Killala and Pepper Dust are best suited over track
and trip and have quartet claims.
GRANT PADDOCK - Number 16 - JOSIE : She is never too far back, is
working well and can run into quartets.
JACQUES STRYDOM - Numbers 1 and 14 - TRAVEL IN STYLE & WHO KNOWS :
Travel in Style disappointed in her last. We are hoping for better and
do believe that 1000m is in her scope. Who Knows has run two poop post
maiden runs, we’re hoping for better.

First choice was REINE TORRENE TO WIN!!
But I think this horse prefers the poly
So went with SMOKEY AFFAIR (win)
Recent form over the poly doesn't suggest this horse can win,but if you go back to the last run over the Grass 1400m,was a merit 84 SMOKEY AFFAIR finished 0.60 (3rd) lengths of GREEN LATERN
0.50 lengths in front 2nd place was LOADSHEDDER(MR83)
Was drawn 9-10 last time and carrying 57.5kgs
Today Draw 1 and 55.5kgs
