So you think Phumelela have turned a new leaf?
6 years 1 month ago - 6 years 1 month agoThis is the same firm that previously attended to Steinhof's legal matters and it is clear that Markus Jooste was instrumental in getting them on board at Phumelela and other racing jurisdictions. Going through some history, I see that Johan Roodt has the following horse racing CV:
1. Attorney for the Racing Association ( Jooste was a board member of the RA before being coopted onto the Phumelela board )
2. Attorney for Phumelela Gaming and Leisure
3. Trustee and Chairman of the Racing Trust
The obvious and irrefutable connection in all of these is Markus Jooste. Roodt Inc acted for Steinhoff in the Jooste era. I can think of no other individual who has had such influence in horse racing and made as much money out of the game and who has never gambled, owned horses or shares in Phumelela. With the history that we now have, you have got to ask the question why Roodt Inc are still being used by Phumelela when both du Plessis and Jooste have supposedly left the building. Phumelelas track record in court is not exactly something to be proud of.
Perhaps the question should be asked as to the current influence that Bernard Kantor, the Phumelela Chairman holds. He has an umbilical cord to Jooste in his business dealings and is a joint major shareholder in Phumemela through amongst others, Kalamojo Pty Ltd. This entity owned by Kantor and Jooste.
Make your own assumptions.
