Kenilworth Wednesday

Have a look at Love Supreme (7/2) in the 4th. Five runs back, this horse was a MR 90 and is now a MR 82. A look at the betting and riding arrangements and I believe Love Supreme is the one to be with.

LS carried level weights with Dynamic Diana (16/10) in the run to Rose in Bloom where Dynamic Diana finished some 6.05 lengths ahead. LS was found to be mildly distressed and from an extremely wide draw. Wednesday there is a 7.0kg swing in favour of LS.

Last time out LS received a kg from Libra for a 1.25 length beating. Wednesday LS receives an extra 1.5kg pull at the weights, so technically should finish ahead of Libra. Must say, if Libra had a winning chance, I think Fourie would have stuck with her, he is stable jockey after all.

Three runs back LS carried 57.0kgs, 0.5kg less than Santa Clara and ran a gallant second some 2.25 lengths off. LS was outrun late over 1600m that day, so over the 1400m on Wednesday, if adopting the same front running tactics, she may prove difficult to peg back. Must say, the current odds looks huge.

Played the double with Kalahari Ninja in the 8th.

So don't spend madly today and tomorrow, keep some for Wednesday, and don't say you didn't get the memo:lol:.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I have Zanadu running in the 15:30 over 2000m at Kenilworth tomorrow :

What can I tell you?
I'll tell you everything that I know - which is nothing.

I went to see her about 2+ weeks ago and she was very happy to see me & the carrots that I took to feed her. It was my first visit for a number of weeks.

My trainer told me that he would be entering her on the 24th of April at Kenilworth over either the 1800 m or 2000m distances.

Since then there has been no further communication although I note that she has been accepted for the 2000m race. Perhaps tomorrow I will hear something? Perhaps never?

Here are the issues which I cannot answer :

1.) Having successfully navigated the PE Gold Cup over 3600m last June (beaten just under 3 lengths) I am now advised that she should be restricted to distances not longer than 2400m. So perhaps she does not stay?
2.) Our usual jockey has gone missing. Don't know why. Don't know where.
3.) I don't know what the longer term objective is any longer (assuming there is even one!) as nothing has been broached or discussed with me (I own 80% of the horse).
4.) Don't know whether she is ready or just having an outing. (at 5!!!).

Sorry, guys, but it seems my only purpose in this exercise is to punctually pay the account each month. Which I do.

Bud, you should be used to this as an owner by now. You are only there to fund the whole "joke" and thereafter the last to know anything. The only time this will change is when you don't own a horse anymore. Garrick you must understand, everyone in this industry is doing you a HUGE favour, spending your money on a dream/pie in the sky.

Posts like these make me wonder whether trainers realise how responsible they are in keeping owners happy, and thus generate future business?. I can not believe that someone who spends a fortune to acquire an animal for you to train, then pays an exorbitant amount feeding it every month, is treated with the disrespect shown here.

In all my years involved in this industry (directly/indirectly +- 45 years) as an owner/son of an owner nothing has changed. Great horsemen and woman out there, fantastic people with a lot of knowledge, but very few have a clue how to communicate with an owner. I have been involved with very close to 25% of all trainers in SA and I have only met one that communicates "properly" with an owner. For most you get a feeling of being a "necessary irritation" to them
I have introduced so many of my mates over the years to owning a horse, to date, not one is still an owner and would never own a horse again. Why ? An expensive unpleasant experience for most. Sad but true.
