TAB enhances carryover policy
6 years 1 month ago
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming
TAB has enhanced its carryover policy for all bets in order to maximise the participation and enjoyment of its customers.
All horseracing carryovers will continue to be added to the same bet-type pool from which they originated as is the case currently.
But going forward all these carryovers will be accumulated into individual bet type stockpiles. These carryover monies will only be deployed around month-end, when customer participation is at a maximum and when the carryover amount is sufficient to ignite the interest of horseplayers.
Pick 6 and Quartet carryover monies will only be utilised on month-end major racedays according to an annual schedule drawn up by TAB based on the total Pick 6 and Quartet carryovers amounts in a year.
The schedule will take into account the centres from which the carryovers originated and attempt to redistribute proportionately.
Should there be insufficient monies in the Pick 6 and Quartet stockpiles to fund the advertised carryovers at any point, TAB will make up the shortfall until more carryover money is generated, while any excess at the end of 12 months will be added to a selected pool.
Soccer pool carryovers, excluding Soccer 13 which is hosted by Svenska Spel in Sweden, will be accumulated into one stockpile regardless of the pools from which they originated.
These carryover monies will be added to selected soccer pools containing maximum-appeal matches around month-end.
“The aim is to make the most of TAB carryovers for the benefit of our customers, which in turn will drive turnovers,” said Rob Scott, who heads up Phumelela’s betting and media divisions.

i hate invisible processes, and this is an invisible process.
The funds carried over values are extremely hard to reconcile from a consumer perspective. Further to this what happens to interest earned by the funds laying dormant for a few weeks at various stages of the month.
this works for phumelela and not the customer.

Sly you have hit the nail on the head. There is no transparency, although if pressed I am sure Scott will be quick to call in PWC, not provide all the information needed, then proclaim a victory when an opinion can not be given. It has worked before for his mate Larry and the sectional timing mess, why change a winning formula?
Phumelela want carryovers at the end of the month so that they can squeeze as much income out of the month end pay days. The solution to this lack of transparency is to take carryovers from the previous month to month ie. 15th to 14th or something similar, and show where the money is being used to boost pools. Will it happen? Sure it will, just after the pigs get clearance for landing.

....it has been almost common knowledge about the way these pools are carried to specific race days and more or less at the end of the month.....next big meet 5th May......so what is the enhancement....
....the benefit for customers....how....:huh.....more money at payday to invest more of it in an exotic:... shame all I can see is only a boost for the operators coffers....muggs all of us.....

....been wondering if Phum double dip or take a chop of their chop in these carryover pools......the money they bank(set aside) from carryovers is nett after they take their 25%......but when they add a amount to a pool from the nett amount....do then take their 25% of the total gross and therefor enhance their r/take.....

Its easy guys stop punting on a tote and sa racing as I have and only laugh at this bunch of jokers and if you wanna play play at a bookie. The sa horse racing operator does nothing for the people that pay them their salaries so fuck them

.....interesting....the operator supply a grand target by adding to and promoting the pools so that most just go and play for the enhanced target at a bookie....racing will never recover until either the operator gets out of the tote betting business because they have no traction in retaining or growing a customer base....or they innovate to get back a better market share.....
