This rare moment allowed the bookmakers to pocket millions as they all of a sudden want to apply an ancient gambling board rule never used in past.
Anti post means prices put by bookmakers 24 hours prior a race or before that. Then final field rules apply.
When bookmakers price up antipost betting, and you take double trebbles into the races for the next day or two and a horse is scratched the next day we all get paid minus the scratching.
Hawwaam was in the final field and scratched seconds before the race .Bookmakers have set president irrespective of gaming board rule. They must pay or add legal fees to eventual pay out.
Just imagine we allow them to take all the millions waged on anti post and just bank it,
Many bookmakers own horses imagine they standing there horse to lose lots of money so they can just tell trainer please scratch, say horse not eating and keep the stake.
CEO of betting world must think he dealing with bunch of idiots as punters.
All bookmakers pay out anti post bets that scratched for years as a common practice that is the rule.
Bookmakers pay the public or any punter would be crazy to take another anti post bet ever.Betting world even advertising limits on anti post
Gaming Board please get your act together and sort your rule as the bookmakers have been ignoring it for years.
Became convenient to bank millions of punters money .
Lets see what the courts think about this.
Also very sad that the key role players in the industry do not protect the punters.

Ante post betting is betting pre the final field...
If you took the bet before the final field was announced your bet is a loser
If you took your bet after the final field announcement you are not betting ante post you are betting on the early betting the non runner and deduction rule applies

The rule of thumb is this: if your bet is ANTE-POST, (so before jockeys and the draw) then the ONLY relevant issue is does It win. Nothing else matters and no excuse counts. Doesn’t matter if there were 100 horses in betting and 90 are scratched. The bet is the bet, finished. Cast in concrete.
If you bet after the final field is announced, then you are playing under run and deduction rules. So then all the money that was wagered on Hawwaam is refunded back to punters, and everyone else’s bets have a percentage taken back to reflect the change in the probabilities. So Hawwaam at 2/1 (ie 1 chance in 3) represents a deduction from everybody at a rate of 30%.
That deduction did NOT apply to the ANTE-POST market because it ignores everything except the winner, no refunds, no percentages taken off, you have to wear your big boy pants and see the thing through to the bitter end…in my case Zillzaal at 100/1 and no run.
So the decider is WHEN you played the bet, not when scratching happen. I hope that helps a bit.

How often do we have anti post betting in SA.
Perhaps we are all confused as we very seldom bet Anti post. Bar Met/July and a few other meetings i guess we bet early and not anti.
July is probably the one we really get stuck into ( unless our yard has a runner) so when we lose we feel it more than other races. i am assuming punters of the other three scratching in the july suffered under the same rule as Hawaam.

Lol. It’s ante meaning “before”, it is not “anti” meaning against.

At last - one literate poster! All the spelling and grammatical errors make some of the rants difficult to take seriously. Seriously, guys, if you can't even spell ANTE-POST is it any wonder that you have no idea how it works?
In summary - it is normally greed that prompts an ante-post bet at slightly inflated odds. And its usually the Monday betting hangover that brings the remorse and whinges.
It may take you a single bet or a lifetime but (with the possible exception of sport) betting on horses is designed to benefit nobody but the layer in the long term.
