Horse disqualified
5 years 10 months ago
Hi
Would it be possible if someone can give me advise on the following?
I backed a horse SUN SPIRIT it ran on Friday in ascot Race 6.
The horse ran 2nd in the race thereafter the stripes disqualified the horse stating that the jockey weight was not as carded.
Now that this horse is disqualified, its a NON-runner in the race, Should all bets be refunded on the horse?
Comments from racing post:
DSQ (10)
1¾
Runner Jacket
4.
Sunsprite (IRE) 8/1
Shane Kelly
Richard Hughes
3 99 p1 96 – 102 –
Held up in midfield, shaken up and progress over 1f out, took 2nd inside final furlong, stayed on but no chance with winner, finished 2nd, disqualified - jockey failed to draw correct weight

In SA that would be a disqualified horse not a non runner and you would do your Tom. I can't see it being different anywhere else but maybe someone can educate us.

To my understanding the fact that the horse is disqualified it is a NON RUNNER and refunds should be paid out.
I'm trying to get the guys at Hollywood to understand but they do not want to budge on the decision.
They say that the horse ran the race and got disqualified after, so there is no refund due.
My honest option is that given the circumstance in which the horse got disqualified Hollywood should refund the bets placed on that horse.

maybe the easiest way to understand it is- if you were due to get a refund, this means that all other runners would need to have a price adjustment (deductions). Was there any deductions on the other runners?

According to your initial post the horse is listed as DSQ in the report.
Where do you see it listed as a non runner?

Sorry, non-runner is the wrong term. I should have just said disqualified.
So be that as it may, the horse is disqualified... Shouldn't the bet be refunded?

The horse would have been disq and placed last..
Not sure if your meaning because HW used to have a refund promotion?
In the rules of racing you have done your cash
