- If any horse is scratched at the start by the vet, it should count for any exotic that has already started rather than the punter being given the new favourite that they likely didn't want / have...if it is a "system" issue, fix the system, don't prejudice the punter...

I'm all for that but....
It's a hard game and everybody has to eat.
What is going to stop a trainer giving instructions to his jockey on a 50-1 shot to tell the vet at the start his horse didn't feel right going to the stalls and thinks it should be scratched.
This way he is in the exotics with a 50-1 horse and just hopes outsiders win and place in the race.

It should not matter what the price is for my battling maiden to run in a race. I want my baby to run and if I can tick the boxes for her to card the race then surely good luck to her and me.

What has been the major changes that have occurred inside racing between the time it was profitable in some way, either to the taxman, punters, owners, trainers until now? Just a list would do..

to answer the original question....

it costs far less to show a french race than to put on a race anywhere in sa.

and as how has been proven in the UK where virtual racing takes in money every week the punters will follow what ever is fed to them.
