Even if this horse ends up a 130 MR this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. As sly said, we cannot put anything past them after recent events. :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly:

It is difficult for me to understand the Merit of stopping good horses, under the guise of "equalising" their chances, so early in their careers.
In order for Racing to continue, we need Owners. We cannot expect Owners to keep on coming back for more, if they are punished after spending tons of money to eventually find a good one and then being punished straight after the first run.
The last thing that a Trainer will want to do, is send a first timer out cherry ripe, if that horse is not a potential Graded Race type.
The career of the horse, in handicaps, will be very difficult and the horse will take a long time to win its share of races, if the approach is an honest one.
Costs are rising. Stakes are not. Think about it - time is money. Times are tough.
So how will we survive ? How will we keep our Owners in Racing? By being dishonest? By stopping horses for a few runs ? And that's just not how we want to race, not how we have raced and not how we were taught to race.

I agree with the MR system, I need to know the truest rating for a horse, not some disguised thing meaning nothing in the end. However, instal a system that hands out an allowance like rest, sex and age. Call it an interim allowance or something.

This horse won particularly well and is clearly something special. She did however debut in Port Elizabeth against run of the mill Port Elizabeth opposition and regardless how the sums work out please let the experts tell me how this horse can be compared at this stage of its career against:
Al Mutawakel off a 98 - unbeaten in 3 in theory would give 3,5kg in a handicap less sex allowance
Alibi Guy OFF A 101 - unbeaten in 3 also a juvenile would give 2kg in a handicap less SA
Gabor off a 112 - Grade 1 winning horse would receive 3.5kg in a handicap coming off a PE debut win.
Eden Roc off a 114 - Grade 1 winner would receive 4,5kg less SA in a handicap if they raced tomorrow
Bare in mind if this race was held in a major centre the horse would have been given a 110 and then that number looks even more ridiculous than what it currently is.
Let anyone stand up and educate me how this system can be seen as anything but punishing to top horses. I challenge anyone to show me what options this horse has besides plate racing and WFA features off this current mark - again I point out this after winning a fecking Maiden Juvenile Plate in Port Elizabeth not even a listed race.

Cousin Liz Grade 3 Fillies winner. Rated 97. so a PE Maiden plate in a minor racing center is higher rated than a Grade 3 race at a major racing center.
These handicappers are out of control.
