not surprised with his move after the latest strike / protest at Turffontein - after which Mr. Ferraris chucked in his licence.........
can we presume ONE of his assistant trainers will take over the string...... otherwise where will the bulk of his horses go to ?
will be interesting to see where Mary / Jessica horses end up with....... I very much doubt Tarry....his big patron is Van Niekerk ! on the short list i'd put Van VUUREN

Dont blame him - threatened and harassed by staff (now out of a job - Karma) / whether you want to admit it or not the game is dying here.
Last one out switch the lights off - sorry guys- it breaks my heart but the game has gone.

Will the Sheik continue sending his USD to SA if/when Mdk closes shop in SA?
Are you living your life or waiting to die?

Its sad news for SA racing.
I am sure the fact that the long overdrawn fiasco of being unable to transport horses without massive frustrations has to have been a major factor.
Sure the MDK team will shine wherever they go.

I’m sure it’s an eventual way out of SAF for him and his family
Sure ( don’t quote me ) it takes 4 or 5 years to get citizenship so I’m sure OZ will just be a satellite yard for now

Bob you are correct but remember what financial backing Mr de Kock has it will take him 2years max. I wish him all the success forward and I am sure him and his son will make sa proud.

After he was hospitalised mdk did say he will emigrate. No secret here. The Sheik won’t continue with Aus imports. Mdk will have to compete with the other Aus trainers who also train for the Sheik. That is the blue sheik and the yellow sheik.

No more time to waste
MANY South African racing fans would have been shocked by Mike de Kock’s official announcement on Monday that he and son Mathew will be setting up a satellite yard in Australia.
Others will argue that this is no surprise whatsoever, the unavoidable result of progression to a personally safer and more beneficial stage – to be seen in the same perspective as the brain drain, the mass exit of skills and educated knowledge from this troubled land.
Mike has indicated that South Africa will remain his main base, and that this will serve as a platform to export horses to Australia and elsewhere. Perhaps he wants to wait and see how successful he will be in Cranbourne, Victoria, before making any more permanent decisions.
