I notice also that Doug Whyte saddles quite a few runners in this first race meeting as a trainer - would be magical if both he and Lyle have a winner on the day. Lyle certainly seems to have a chance for Tony Millard in the first race!!

Lyle has his work cut out on sunday...all his rides will need luck. Race 1 looks his best yes...but only for 2nd place. The rain will suite his nag thou.
Teaching you to Fish...
In the last season GVN led in 13 races....he WON 9 of those races for an ROI of a BRILLIANT 168/1...remember this for this season!!!!
In race 2 he wont lead outright but should atleast sit 2nd with a horse that has been prepped well. His best ride of the day is undoubtedly KING OPIE....he should go VERY CLOSE there.
Domeyer..Best when he can stalk from a Good draw. He has 2 horses to beat in the last race...But his nag can go close and should be a decent price.
Watch for Domeyer when nags drop from 1400-1200....or 1200 to 1000m. He excels with 'distance droppers'.

I stand corrrected...Hewitson's best ride is defnitely in Race 8 aswell. Should be about 20 or 25/1 according to me...will love the wet ground and be coming home hard. Will just depend on the day if the course is running fast or slow...which we will be able to know after the 1st 2 or 3 races...so if its slow...expect MONGOLIAN KING to come flying home.KO still my main pick thou...in what looks a very competitive race.

Like any other jockey, he will only be as good as the rides he gets...
Here he was well supported by some of the best trainers with the best horses...not many talented riders are / were as well supported...

Only as good as the rides you get??? This is an excuse 'weak jockeys' makes.Good jocks find a way to get winners...im sure you will argue this as a fact...but ill give you 2 recent examples...ofcoz i will!!!!
GVN and Domeyer!!!! 80% of GVN winners was almost double figures. Domeyer sat on mostly donkeys aswell. Purton in his 1st season got only support from the weaker trainers aka weaker horses.
Yeah sure...good horses makes it easier,no doubt. But Champions dont cry abt 'only as good as the horses they get' In life....we make our own luck.

LH's strike rate is about 12%...pretty average if one considers the trainer support he received...
You entitled to your opinion...
I still wish him the very best ...always take joy in any South African achieving on the bigger stages...
