Well done to Luyolo
Most jockeys would have let go the reins
But why are so many jockeys falling recently
Had a discussion with an old timer who has been around for ever and a day
His take is that todays jockeys sit much shorter than before and only balance
on their toes
As a consequence when a horse stumbles they easily lose one foot from the stirrup
and tilt over and fall
I note that Strydom Fortune Shea and a number of older riders still used their full foot in the iron
