Big Brown versus Curlin
not ruled out

CONNECTIONS of America's big two, Curlin and Big Brown, have yet to dismiss a clash between the pair in the aftermath of Rick Dutrow lambasting the Dubai World Cup-winner on Sunday.

Following Big Brown's win in the the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park, Dutrow criticised Curlin's credentials following his recent defeat in the Man o'War Stakes.

“Our horse is undefeated on grass,” Dutrow said. “Curlin isn't. I don't know why people think Curlin is such a good horse. We're way better than Curlin."

Defending the attack, Curlin's majority owner Jess Jackson stated that he would like to meet five-time Group 1 winner Big Brown.

"I think it's bad for racing to have trash talk," Jackson said. "To run down another guy's horse, I don't think it's right. It demeans the industry.

“I'd like to meet Big Brown, preferably on the dirt, which is each one's best surface, but I think they're considering retiring Big Brown before we have a chance to meet him.”
Michael Iavarone, co-president of IEAH Stables, owner's of Big Brown, added: “I find it interesting that doesn't like trash talk, because what he said sounds like trash talk to me. I'm not upset at all about what Rick said. I don't think it's wrong to say my horse is better than your horse.

"I think building a rivalry between horses is good for the game, as long as it's not personal. Curlin and Big Brown both have huge followings, and I would love to have theopportunity to run against Curlin."

At Tuesday's teleconference, Jackson added that a second trip to Dubai had not yet been dismissed.

“Of course!” Jackson exclaimed when asked during a media teleconference on Tuesday whether he would consider an engagement in the 2009 Dubai World Cup, leaving the door open to the possibility that Curlin could continue racing next year.

“We've been invited to Japan, we've been invited to Hong Kong, we've been invited to other venues here in North America. We're just going to keep all of our options open,” Jackson said.

While indicating he has decided against sending Curlin to France for the Arc, Jackson suggested that the possibility of the four-year-old racing next year are “pretty slim…but not foreclosed.”

They should meet at the Breeders Cup - which will also allow 'other' top Horses from around the World to compete.

Then. And only then - will we see just how 'good' they are!

May the best Horse Win!

Wouldnt it be good if they had a match race rather..best of 3 races over 3 months so none could have any excuse bout the pace interference etc..and best of 3 should take an off day out of the equation.
