The Dubai racing season starts on Thursday 24 October and TAB and Betting World will once again offer punters a delightful array of betting options throughout the season.
Dubai racing is a spectacle of note, and punters will be able to view most of the action live on Tellytrack 1 on DStv channel 239.
Although Thursday’s season opener is definitely no bang, it’s also no whimper, with Doug Watson, the most successful trainer at Meydan last season, saddling hot favourite Cosmo Kramer in the first race.
Seven-time UAE champion jockey Tadhg O’Shea will also be in action from the start as he has been appointed stable jockey to Jebel Ali-based French trainer Nicholas Bachalard. The pair team up with Laa Baas in the season’s first race.
Thursday’s race meeting is obviously the first step en route to the Dubai World Cup Carnival, worth 12.74 million American dollars in prize money across 10 race meetings - from January to March – contested by the most high-profile owners, trainers, horses and jockeys in the world.
The Dubai World Cup Carnival leads to the Dubai World Cup day, the richest day of racing in the world.
The major prep for Dubai World Cup day is the Super Saturday meeting, to be held on Saturday 7 March 2020. Super Saturday allows trainers to put the finishing touches to their equine stars before appearing on racing’s biggest stage - Dubai World Cup day – 28 March 2020.
This season the Dubai World Cup meeting will celebrate its 25th anniversary with six Group 1 races and three Group 2s, including the $12million Dubai World Cup sponsored by Emirates Airline.
