Catalogue/Gallops
www.bsa.co.za/catalogue.php?url=2019rtr
Not sure how much you can take from the gallops , but they seem to be edited more than ever?
Looking at the sellers, there looks to be dozens of buy backs?
Anyone buying?

where and what are the incentives to buy a horse on this sale?
145 2 year olds
2 Dukes
3 dynasty'
2 Oratorio'
1 Querari
1 SFR
2 Trippi'
4 VAR'
2 Veringetorix
there will be less races less stakes less opportunities for these horses to run.
why get involved?

A brilliant Sale for us !
I think that u all know that I refuse to buy at R2R if I have not attended the gallops live. Before that, I refuse to look at the catalogue. When Lauren and I get to the gallops, I give her a sign, indicating my score, as the horse finishes his/her gallop. I look for the horses that have that "something" in their action. I ignore the horses that are green, just turn them down. This does not mean that they are not top class etc. I only focus on the real top actioned horses. This is what sets this Sale apart, surely ?
Nowadays the pomp and style is gone, from the gallops. No announcements and promoting over the PA system. They rely solely on the video being shot, for reviews later. By now, we have all learned that a video can be very deceiving... At the gallops, just silence. And only about 4 other Trainers attended. (Amazing how suddenly the "dedication" fades, when the Hartford House freebies and ego stroking is no longer the norm).
My surprise was when I gave my highest score for a gallop for a colt and Lauren was laughing at me. She knows that I do not care to look at pedigree beforehand. The reason was lot 37, out of Extra Zero ( I was the under bidder to Sean), but had bought Negev from the family.
Anyway, we have had good results from the Sale with Waywest Goddess, Negev, De Var Hyt etc etc.
So, to get our "top mover ", Lot 37 and our second to top mover Lot 145 was a top result from us. Also, Bravo Zulu's half brother Lot 80.
There were the obvious buy backs, the obvious over priced horses etc. But all in all, it was a buyers market.
Our thanks to Basie and Suzette Viljoen (Lot 37) , Johnny Carlse ( Lot 80) and longstanding patrons Eric and Evelyn Joell (lot 145). And to my old mate Steven Moffatt for bidding quietly, one side, and in tens, for us on lot 37. He really frustrated some people, methinks. LOL
