Can't find a race for my horse.....level the playing fields guys !

It's near impossible for me to find a race for my colt / gelding over 1000m for MR 68 - MR 75

But if u have a FILLY.

F & M 76 1000 M 30 NOV.
F & M 68 1000 M 03 DEC.
F & M 76 1000 M 12 DEC.

Now if u have a COLT MR 72 1000 M 16 DEC ....... a MONTH FROM NOW :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

& please don't ask me to look for a GRADUATION plate..... the last time we nominated... there were MR 90 + entered as well.......needless to say we were RESERVE.... never got in..

HANDICAPPERS / RACE ORGANIZERS...... please level the playing fields...... not all of us have MR 80 horses & above - besides isn't Kimberly closing it's doors in the near future ? ( so what do we do with these horses ? )

With all due respect to Mr Soma - isn't it his JOB to recognize the problem - why should somebody first highlight this issue ???

@Elvis sometimes looking at something in isolation skews the bigger picture. I have gone through the Highveld program over the period May - October 2019 ( 6 month period ), and isolated races 1000-1200 ( sprints ) and solidly in the MR 68 - 77 LEVELS. All plate races have been ignored. The results are very interesting.

Number of eligible races over distance and MR = 32 ( 5 per month )
Number of races restricted to fillies = 19 ( 3 per month )
Number of races open to colts/geldings = 13 ( 2 per month )

Now to make things interesting I looked at the Highveld program for the same time period at the other end of the distance scale 2000 - 2400 ( stayers ). It makes for even more interesting reading.

Number of eligible races over distance and MR = 23 ( 4 per month )
Number of races restricted to fillies = 9 ( 1.5 per month )
Number of races open to colts/geldings = 14 ( 2.5 per month )

My conclusion is that thank your luck stars you don't own a stayer and more to the point, a staying filly. There seems to be a definite bias in the favour of sprinting fillies in this MR band.

I would also be asking why an assistant trainer is responsible for the program with the abundance of highly paid Phumelela execs. Why is Basel and/or Davis not responsible for the program? The fact that the RA top dog races in the same stable as the assistant that prepares the program should be cause for concern for every trainer on the Highveld. It is a clear conflict of interest and should never have been allowed. I see no mention of Mr Soma in any of the official websites/publications. Perhaps someone could explain how and why he has this job?

So isolating it to the absolute minimum distance (1000) produces the following results:

Number of eligible races over distance and MR = 15 ( 2.5 per month )
Number of races restricted to fillies = 10 ( 1.66 per month )
Number of races open to colts/geldings = 5 ( .83 per month )

Theres some serious bias there as highlighted by Elvis

Elvis send your horse to CT my mate, 6 horses a race.

In my opinion there should always be more "open" opportunities in any particular band / category as fillies/mares can compete in these as well as in their own restricted races. Fillies can thus compete in 100% of the races programmed but colts/geldings much less so.

& us SMALL TIME owners are expected to stay in the game @ 10 g per month ( last 2 months oct & nov ) & NO run.........hmmmmm I think not.

OSCAR u make a lot of sense there mate - you're lucky if u get 10 runners in a race in CPT.

well blow me down with a feather.............. i'm entered TOMORROW in a MR 80 @ Turffontein........... MY MR 66 !!!! won't be holding my breath !

would much prefer to be running / fighting against my own division MR 68 - MR 74..... why must i race 2 or 3 divisions higher ? I know why....... cause i haven't had a run in 2 x months....
