Will there be an inquiry.....?

Into the drastically improved running of the " bomb " in the 5th race at the Vaal today?.
Steward's reports?.
Only criteria for selecting this horse will be FIL birthday on 17th.
No form to suggest inclusion unless you went with the field.

Trainer says “ will be green “ or similar in the comments
Then says this on SM after the win
“ Today Decadent Lady showed why she was nominated for the GR1 Allan Robertson as a juvenile. It was great to finally see her bring her track work to the races”

Did the ownership on that horse recently change?

Yeah Bob it might have helped if the pre race comment was" shows unbelievable work at home and if brings this to the track can upset". Comment in Computerform says " will need the run" . Now before everyone says we complain when they do and we complain when they dont all we are really asking is give us a proper comment or none at all. The post race interview and pre race comment don't add up.

Personally in this instance, I don't see anything untoward here. It was a case of a horse putting it together when it wanted to. The tote payout tells the story.
If a horse is 100/1 and the trainer says WILL NEED THE RUN and the horse comes out and wins, its one thing.
When a horse is FAVORITE and the trainer says WILL NEED THE RUN and horse comes out and wins, that is a problem for me. Its about putting punters off a fancied runner for selfish reasons.
The latter has been happening quite frequently of late.

Yeah nothing untoward here just the trainer didn't take advantage of the situation.
But when we are misled by trainers and their horses win with money for them the stipes should question the trainer and look into the betting and see if the stable actually backed the horse.
If they did then he should get a warning and if it happens again a decent fine.

So it's ok as nobody took advantage
Imo, it's not as bad as the situation the other day where there seemingly was some market support - however in this case there surely needs to be some sort of inquiry, and it the filly does not reproduce a similar performance in her next run or 2, she must be a candidate for suspension, due to in-and-out running.
But even if she gets suspended, it won't stop similar things from happening. Will it chase some punters away from racing ? Probably, but not a lot the authorities can do about that, except to be seen to act decisively when this type of thing happens. But they can't stop it from happening - it is part of racing and when one deals with flesh and bone, strange things happen sometimes; if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen
As an aside, I don't believe I have ever seen a JP div of R600k + ?

In the distant past , I can recall instances where there used to be one long blast of the siren on course and the course commentator will announce........
" Patrons please note an enquiry will be held into the improved running of horse Decadent Lady "' Or in the case of a hot favourite performing poorly, an enquiry as to why it ran the way it did.
These measures were in place for a long time to keep things in check by the Jockey Club as regular occurrences can have punters screaming foul.
In the case of Decadent Lady, the casualties were the exotics like the Jackpot and Pick 6.
For the record this trainer has had instances in the past where a horse showed sudden improvement and resulting in an inquiry.

Any broadcaster worth their salt should be asking the question in the post race rather than fawning over connections.
Same thing with beaten short-priced favourites. Doesn't have to be an interrogation, just a simple request for an update post-race.

with regards the 100-1 winner. unless the comments had said this horse will win i would have excluded from exotics.
i would however agree the horse and trainer should have been placed on review with regards this horses next races.

I'm not saying anyone benefitted but had I heard a pre race comment that said horse works really well but doesnt bring it to the track I would include it in case. When i see no form and here.. horse will need it ..i leave it out. Just saying.
