The Vow lines up in Race 4, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1600m at should add to the tally of that successful combination.

This will be the three-year-old daughter of Oratorio’s fourth run so she can only get better.

She has finished third in her last two performances, both over 1400m at this venue and was far from disgraced when beaten 2.75 lengths by a decent sort in Springisintheair last time.

The Vow ran ahead of A Moment Apart on that occasion and should have no trouble confirming superiority.

She is the joint best-weighted runner alongside her main danger, O Sole Mio.

The good news is that The Vow shoulders 1kg less than that rival and jumps from No 1 draw as opposed to O Sole Mio’s No 10 barrier position in this 10-horse field.

Since finishing fourth at the first time of asking, Vaughan Marshall-trained Speed Of Night has been threatening to leave the maiden ranks – following up his penultimate second with a noteworthy third.

If jockey MJ Byleveld can get this Judpot colt to make improvement on that last effort, he will show rivals a clean pair of heels in Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1200m.

His case is further strengthened by the fact his main danger – Lead Singer – always finds someone to beat him and is returning from a 74-day stint off the racecourse.

On this evidence, Lead Singer is most likely going to suffer from ring-rust.

You won’t get filthy rich but consider floating Lead Singer and Speed Of Night with the field in a Quartet and put all those winnings on Perfect Air in Race 6.

Considering this Dynasty five-year-old was returning from a break, she ran an absolute cracker when only beaten 4.05 lengths by the highly rated Miyabi Gold recently.

She won over this 2000m distance in her penultimate offering and is beautifully drawn at No 1 so should be hard to peg back.

The only concern is the fact she shoulders top-weight of 61.5kg.
The Vow good second but bo cigar.
I was just told that the Snaith/Fourie combination failed to manage a winner their last 44 runs..

True?

I doubt many people have joy with the bad run the Snaith stable is having.
Racing is about facts and if those are the facts then so be it.
They will come back and that is for sure, but us as punters would like to know what is behind this slump, that is all.
Injections, virus, new feed being used or whatever it may be,it would be nice to hear from SA's biggest stable what they feel is behind this.

Justin Snaith likes to break records - maybe he has his sights set on bettering Lyle Hewitson's losing streak in Hong Kong!! On a serious note, his luck will turn and then the floodgates will open. Most stables, no matter how good or how big, experience frustrating times.

I'm starting to loose count... last two races Snaith had 6 horses nil winners..
Today 10 runners for none, including 2 serious favourites, we up to about a 55 losing streak?
Any truth to rumours going around that Justin is packing up for Australia leaving Jonothan and their dad to carry on with the stable in Cape Town?

I see they have 50 runners over the 2 days of the LQP Weekend
will not be helping their strike rate with so many couplings
