Trainer comments for the meeting on the Flamingo Park sand 17 February.

FEBRUARY 17, 2020
Race 1

Tienie Prinsloo
No 1 Jays Dancer – Nice horse, will need the experience
Cliffie Miller
No 2 Karlovacko – Nice sort and has a chance
No 10 Winter Monarch has a chance
Bill Human
No 5 Trust The Fire – Will be very green and need the run
No 6 Great Diva – Will be very green and need the run
No 9 Sweet Alexis – Will be very green and need the run
Corne Spies
No 7 Little Deuce Coupe – May still be green, hoping for a place
No 11 Zernez – Needs further, hoping to earn a stake

Race 2

Jarett Rugg
No 5 Sherwinz Joy’s work has been good and he ran a decent race last time out. I’ll be expecting a decent run again.
Bill Human
No 8 Senor Tiger – First run after gelding, will need the run
Cliffie Miller
No 14 Tac It Twice – Nice sort but might need the run
No 7 Pay The Punters has a chance
Dennis Cason
No 10 Power Princess – She’s having her first run for the stable and her first run on the sand track but is working well.
Corne Spies
No 13 Even Me – Her best run was in Kimberley, so hoping she can find the money
No 1 Ramkat – Runner up in both starts on the sand, place chance

Race 3

Dennis Cason
No 10 Rani – She is at her best over this minimum trip and could go close here
Corne Spies
No 2 Andalusian – Improved last run over 1400 meters, place chance
No 1 Miss Boomerang – Enjoys this surface, has a winning chance
Jarett Rugg
No 14 Fararanga shows lots of pace back home but need to bring it to the races, will be hoping for improvement.
Cliffie Miller
No 7 Fairlado can follow up and win again

Race 4

Dennis Cason
No 8 Just Dance – She seems to be a bit high in the merit ratings at the moment and may battle here

Race 5

Jarett Rugg
No 3 Town Flyer is coming off a long break and therefore may need the run. However, it is a small field and my surprise if not needing it too much.
Corne Spies
No 4 Canquari – Better than his recent form suggests. Hoping he can find his best form again

Race 6

Cliffie Miller
No 1 Northern Storm – Will need the run. I can’t separate No 7 Kildonan Princess and No 8 Dance Dance
Stephanie Miller
No 3 Oona – Needs the run
Dennis Cason
No 4 Bonfilia – It’s her first run back from a rest and she will need this run

Race 7

Dennis Cason
No 11 Flexible Fugitive – Should run a good race
Dennis Cason
No 8 Out Of The Rainbow – Having his first run back from a short rest but was an easy maiden winner and has a money chance
No 10 Stupefy – Rested, will need the run
Corne Spies
No 1 Axios – Enjoys Kimberley, has a money chance
No 6 Bouncing Tigger – Drawn a bit wide but had a fair last run. Has an each-way chance.
Cliffie Miller
No 12 Oh Yeah has a definite chance

Race 8

Corne Spies
No 6 All Of Me – Good form and likes this course, should again run well
No 3 True Words – Slight stable preference and loves this course, good chance
Cliffie Miller
No 10 Border Control is in a strong race but will be right there

Race 9

Cliffie Miller
No 1 Spike Wells has a definite chance
No 10 Keanan’s Rock will be better than last run

Race 10

Stephanie Miller
No 7 Mr T – Needs the run
Dennis Cason
No 9 Casey Boy – Will need the run
Corne Spies
No 5 Kruispad – Will be happy if he can get into the places
No 6 Red Wolf – Hoping for improvement
Cliffie Miller
No 8 Inheritance can win

And the typical SA racing starts now.
40-1 winner and favourite somehow manages to get messed up at the start.

Please note that following the running of Race 4 today at Flamingo Park, jockeys expressed concerns regarding wet patches on the track at the 1100m, 900m mark ,550m mark and the 300m mark. A track inspection was carried out, which was followed by a protest by the Jockeys. A panel was formed consisting of Jockeys, Trainers, NHRA Stipendiary Stewards, Phumelela track management and the NHRA Veterinary Surgeon. The Panel was of the unanimous decision that Racing could not continue and the remainder of today's race meeting at Flamingo Park (Races 5 to 10) dated 17 February 2020 have been abandoned.
