Morning all and i hope i get this correct day 15 of 35?

Cyril has spoken and he has extended the lockdown by 2 weeks, without concessions!!

I enjoyed Slys post above " the operation was a success but the patient died"

Possibly sums up the situation.

We did see the dustbin guys yesterday and gave them an early easter present which was greeted by happy smiles and a loud cheer.
Still very thankful for all the people on the dangerous front line.

This extended lockdown is yet another serious blow for racing but options for overseas racing still on offer.

Its easter weekend and difficult to get the mind on what is actually happening on the planet, will update stats soon but get scared to check.

On the song choice for today was checking some latest news :
Marty Pellow from Wet Wet Wet has got the start of arthritis he says " he feels it in his fingers and in his toes"
Also Meatloaf has married his accountant she say "she will do anything for love but she won't do VAT.

Here is one we could all do with

All i need is a miracle

The extended lockdown is worrying. Yes, this is the trend all over the world, but we are sitting on a time bomb with millions of hungry and angry people. Our situation is not helped by media comments like '' the Coronavirus was brought into the country by the more affluent people who travelled abroad".

Oh well, on a lighter note:
A man goes to see his doctor because he's having trouble with his hearing.
" What are the symptoms?" asks the doctor.
"They're a yellow cartoon family," says the man.

....food does not seem to be the problem at this point in time.....booze and smokes is what is really making them mad
.....also those that are demanding for race profiles to be attached to the stats are trying to stir and seek to lay blame in order to cause a revolt....the so called socialists desperately looking for an angle to join the fray.....

To be fair the President came over very well and delivered what he had to say like a born leader.

It was certainly not what we had hoped for and I think he will have to seriously consider his stance as unique SA circumstances arise.

Lets see how we all get on but as i mentioned previously there is a thin line between saving life's and killing the country financially, which indirectly could be the same reduced headcount at the end of the day for many?

The things that are very concerning to the medical profession :

1. Flu season with the highest per capita numbers of people who have HIV
2. COVID-19
3. Shortage of drugs for the 5 million HIV people who rely on them
so South Africa is in very unchartered waters as to how the above three might collide.

N.B. As per the Presidents directive on Thu 9-Apr regarding the extension of lockdown, race meetings are cancelled until further notice.

Where I think there could be a problem is Booze and Fags.
One assumes that those that indulge stocked up for 3 weeks and not 5 !
Ironically they are the two first items that the Government increases at Budget time.
I will shortly be eyeing the red wine stock that has been put away.

The problem is there are two choices. Herd immunity or lockdown. Having chosen to go with lockdown cr now has to see it through which could take at least 2 maybe 3 months. As for the economic implications I believe that he has taken them into consideration and is going to use the consequences of lockdown to force through a new order such as smashing the unions going for prescribed assets and similar necessary steps which have been getting strong opposition from several quarters which both he and the minister of finance have been wanting to do and using the virus as validation.

.....I always wondered why Cyril stood by in the wings of ANC executive while Zuma and his factions raped and plundered state assets....maybe he wanted them to dig a hole to bury themselves in....then emerge as the savior statesman to try and fix it....well thus far his handing of this crisis is the cloak he was destined to wear....
