I am going to post a question of the top of my head and would like you to give me the answer .

Plus please feel free to do something similar.

The year was 1971

One of my favorite horses of all time was running in the 2000 gns

If i remember it was slight fav to beat the french challenger.
They were both neck and neck entering the final furlong when another horse came out the pack and beat them both, it was probably 6/1 third fav.
It also went on to win many races on the trot, can you tell me the following

1.
A) who won the race
B ) how many consecutive races did it win.
C) who eventually stopped the winning run.

2 . who was second
3. who was third

4. Did the winner and second ever meet again ?

Bloody hell Dave !! Those are some very tough questions ... and we are South Africans... in 1971 we never even had television.

I will have a stab at Shergar ... but may have the wrong decade or century !

Now we are getting somewhere, my fav horse was MILL REEF, it ran second.

Plus mill reef and BG never did meet again although a match race was considered over a mile and a quarter.

Bg was the champ miler and MR the star middle ( mile and a half ) horse
