Its massive in the UK betting shops plus greyhound racing.
I also cant believe the punters have a punt but they also have machines for cherries, roulette etc

The other day I decided to check this virtual racing. Wagered a few bets to see what is all about. Backed 6 and 10, the greater the number, the bigger the odds. After 10 wagers I had enough. R100 down the drain. Proceeded to watch about 50 races thereafter. 6 and 10 never won in any of them. You got a better chance in winning in the Swedish Trots! Now I know why I never indulge in any of these online games.

In USA they have virtual horse-racing based on actual historical results of previous years racing. These games can be found on course.
