Get off to a good start with Due Diligence in race 2. Based on their head-to-head, Due Diligence finished 3.95 lengths head of Dubawi Princess on (16/12).
Any other collateral form used, points to Due Diligence finishing ahead of Dubawi Princess.
A convoluted line horse would be Ululate. Beaten 2.25 lengths by Dubawi Princess (22/02) in receipt of 2.5kgs. Ululate was beaten 8.50 lengths by Ecstatic Green (yesterday). Due Diligence beaten 0.25 lengths by Ecstatic Green (07/03) conceding 3.0kgs to Ecstatic Green in the process.

Jack Milner: The three-month break between the running of the SA Fillies Classic and Saturday’s SA Oaks has not worked in Summer Pudding’s favour.
June 5, 2020
Under normal circumstances the three races comprising the SA Triple Crown and the SA Triple Tiara for fillies are over in around 60 days.
This year, owing to the Coronavirus lockdown, the Gauteng Guineas took place on 12 February, the Classic on 7 March with the Derby and Oaks scheduled for 4 April. That meeting did not take place and going into Saturday’s SA Oaks, Summer Pudding has been off for three months since winning her last race.
Many experts believe it is quite a training feat to win three tough races over distances between 1600m and 2450m in the space of 60 days. But for Paul Peter, trainer of Summer Pudding who needs Saturday’s Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks to give her a Triple Tiara triumph, he would have preferred that script rather than the current scenario.
“We don’t think this delay is in her favour. We were preparing for April and sometimes horses peak too soon and go over the top,” said Peter.
Nevertheless, he feels his charge is in top condition going into Saturday’s race.
“Her work has been excellent and her coat looks magnificent,” said Peter yesterday. “I have no doubt she will see out the distance and I’m expecting a very good performance.”
Peter is an extremely successful trainer but he has managed to get some advice from one of the best in the business – retired trainer Ormond Ferraris. Ferraris made the Oaks and Derby his own, winning the former 10 times and the latter eight times.
“His input has been invaluable,” said Peter, “and I can tell you he is very happy with the way things have gone.”
With Warren Kennedy, who rode the filly to victory in the first two legs, opting to stay in Durban during the lockdown period, Gavin Lerena has picked up the ride. “We offered Warren to come up to Joburg and stay here for the month but he has a young child and does not want to spend that length of time away from his family,” said Peter.
“But Gavin is an excellent replacement. He has won on Summer Pudding. He came to work her a few days back and was very happy with the gallop.”
Peter is also feeling bullish about Western Fort, who runs in the Grade 1 SA Derby over 2450m. “He used duck and dive while he was racing and that cost him. Last time he had a bad draw and when he couldn’t place, Warren (Kennedy) didn’t hurt him over the final 200m.
“We have since tried him in cheekpieces and he’s a different horse. His work is superb, and I think he has improved five lengths at least.
“I make him a massive runner in the Derby and I feel confident he will run in the first three.”
He is also expecting a much-improved run from Vistula in Race 6, a Pinnacle Stakes for fillies and mares over 1600m. “She’s an excitable filly and had too much racing. As a result, she went a little bit sour.
“We took her to the farm for a couple of months and she has come back different horse. She’s back to her best and my only concern is the No 10 draw over this distance.

TARRY HOLDS SOME ACES AT TURFFONTEIN TOMORROW
David Thiselton
Sean Tarry has a strong hand in the big meeting at Turffontein tomorrow and his big guns have generally landed good draws too.
In the Grade 1 SA Derby over 2450m his Grade 2 TAB/Betting World Dingaans winner Shango has drawn pole and his other two runners, Cornish Pomodoro and Nebraas, are drawn seven and ten respectively.
Tarry said about Shango "He seems to be a staying type. He has never showed much in work but he is doing well and is moving well and the draw will help. I am pleased with everything."
He admitted only the race would tell whether he stayed the trip.
Shango is by the sprinter Captain Of All out of a Jet Master mare who won from 1200m to 1400m but he won the Dingaans going away and Tarry had no doubt whatsoever he would stay the 1800m trip of the Grade 1 SA Classic.
His below par run there could have been explained by him having to be scratched from the Gauteng Guineas after a minor setback and missing three or four days of work as a result and the yard had also suffered a bout of temperatures at the time of the Classic too.
Cornish Pomodoro also ran well below par in the Derby Trial around the time of the bout of temperatures and Tarry said that outing was best ignored.
He pointed out, "I had always expected him to turn into a classic horse. That last run knocked the wind out of our sails but before that he ran second to Green Laser at level weights in the Secretariat and was doing his best work late so based on that he is not a long way off these horses. He has been doing well."
Tarry said about Nebraas, "He is out of an Archipenko mare and his sire Vercingetorix did have a lot of pace over a mile but is by Silvano (who imparts stamina), so he should get the trip. He is a nice horse and is progressive. He is under pressure based on his merit rating but is coming off a second place finish in the Derby Trial where he had a few here behind him."
Asked which was the stable elect Tarry said, "Shango would be the choice on form no doubt but he is lazy at home and on work I would say Nebraas, although it's tricky as the horses to beat are also stepping up in trip.
In the he Grade 1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes over 1600m Tarry runs last year's runner up Cirillo (drawn three), the progressive Tierra Del Fuego (drawn two) and the former Summer Cup winner Tilbury Fort (drawn 12).
Cirillo bounced back to his best last time to win the Grade 2 Hawaii Stakes over 1400m by 3,50 lengths.
Tarry said, "He was impressive and is doing well. He had a deep draw last year and only just failed. He has 2kg to find on the top horses but is now drawn well and hopefully will have a very good run."
"Tierra Del Fuego was soundly beaten by Cirillo in the Hawaii but he is on the up and a mile might even be better. He has got it all to do but he is fit and well."
"This is a pipe opener for Tilbury Fort. It is nice to have Lyle back, he hasn't ridden Tilbury since winning the 2018 Summer Cup and a 1400m race next time out. I hope to see him running on and we can map out a program from there."
Tarry runs Victoria Paige and Keep On Smiling in the Grade 2 SA Oaks.
He had been highly confident of Victoria Paige's chance in the Grade 1 SA Fillies Classic but had to scratch her with a temperature. The long-striding daughter of Captain Al has drawn pole and he said, "She hasn't had the ideal preparation and I can't have the same confidence over 2400m. I'm hoping she will stay but she is not certain too and it is exactly the same with Keep Smiling, who also has ability."
Tarry said he had been able to get enough work into his charges during lockdown. However, one concern was whether he had kept them on the boil for too long due to the lockdown extension and the continual stretching out of the dates of the races.
Of his other charges on the day he felt Dubawi Princess was a runner, he gave Slalom Queen a chance, he rates Immeasurable but was disappointed by his last run and is hoping he is not a "brass", he believes first-timer Sun Ray would probably need the experience but added he would be progressive, he thought Take The World had a chance having come from last on debut to finish fourth, although he is now widely drawn, and he said Return Flight always thrived at this time of the year.
He has Matador Man running at Greyville in the Grade 2 Drill Hall Stakes on Sunday and said, "He has a tough task taking on those horses but loves Greyville and on his day is useful. He has been doing well."
Tarry said the weekend was going to be an important yardstick to sort out his SA Champions Season team. Horses are only allowed one move during the lockdown so he won't be able to travel up and down.
He envisages entering about ten horses into the Vodacom Durban July on Monday.

Race 3 : Elusive Woman holds Portico at the weights and Slalom Queen on the War Room run , the de kock baby could be something special but the 8/1 a win and15/10 a place looks great value to me.

Race 8: Hawaam is back and I will be trying to beat him , Cirillo is the one for me , hasn't been beaten far by Soqrat , Rainbow Bridge at similar weights and worth a nibble @ 8/1

I have Dutched Elusive Woman and Portico, reason being, on paper I agree Elusive Woman should finish ahead of Portico, problem I have, one never knows what the apprentice aboard will do, i.e. go to the front and use the allowance to his advantage, or sit in the pack and try and quicken up. My view is just go - if you "fall in a hole", so be it, but make the rest work to win it. As Mr H pointed out the other day, some of these apprentices need to strengthen up, they are not physically strong enough to extract the most from a horse when it is needed as in coming from off the pace. In a race 1400m and further, they sometimes get it right, but 1000m to 1200m, it's difficult. Like I said, I have Dutched the two in a first three race treble.
I am keen on the double, R1, Senescence, into, R2, Due Diligence. Whilst they say never back a horse on breeding, I think Senescence from a decent draw, if seeing out the distance, is the one they all have to beat, and looks the one open to the most improvement.
So if getting this far in my treble, I agree, Elusive Woman must have a chance of winning, but I don't believe Strydom will allow him to get too far ahead, he is a wily campaigner. If anything, Strydom might pressure the appie by going to the front, but i hope my ticket are still alive at this point.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
