I have Zanadu competing in the 5th. Here's what you need to know :

1.) She has not competed for just over a year barring a pipe opener a week or so ago over a distance about 1000m short of her minimum. There is nothing untoward in that : A combination of Covid and trying unsuccessfully to find an opportunity at stud for her caused the hiatus. I decided to put her back in training simply because I don't have the stomach to put her down (as suggested) and have drawn a blank trying to rehome her appropriately. I may well try my hand at breeding if no other option presents itself. Clearly I have the needle to my money.
2.) My former partner asked to be relieved of her interest so I mopped up her 20% & she now races in my colours.
3.) Give the long absence I have no idea what to expect from her. She is, however, fit and well and has histroically performed when fresh.
4.) A further problem is that Cape racing makes little or no effort to accomodate stayers. There are no races EVER for female horses only beyond 2000m. So we are always forced to compete against males beyond that distance and usually over distances less than optimum. Even mixed sex races over ground are few and far between.
5.) My only comment is this : Beware of leaving her out. We are not in the field to make up numbers.
6.) Should she win it's nice to know that the prize money after deductions will pay her keep for a whole 2 months. Makes me wonder what is meant by 'Let's all pull together'. Seems more like - 'Owners pay, insiders collect' to me.

Please note that I do not punt my own horses so prices quoted are seldom a guide to their chances.

Haven't seen a 'preview show' on TT - things seemingly going from bad to worse - what happened to USO - has it been canned ito the Gold Circle show - and no replacement when there is no KZN racing on a Saturday ?

I really dont understand why they dont do under starters orders anymore? Since lockdown things seem to have gone backwards, even with tellytrack, nothing new.
Niel andrews has been doing previews for most race meetings with a guest, when they first started they would give a pa and bipot and discuss those legs as well as best bet. That has now fallen away, instead they now have this guest go through the card, i have never seen such bad previews, he just babbles on and and on about every runner, even a week ago in jhb when there were 3 very deep in the red favorites that looked like impossible to beat(which all won) he had every reason why they were beatable. Every race there are eight horses that can win. Seriously they started off so good, the only one that you can get info out is durban when they interview sheldon, but even now they have stopped with his pa or bipot perms. Good luck to anyone who has the patience to listen to todays you tube podcast for 40 minutes.
Atleast today is cape town where the presenters get first timer comments aswell as interview the trainers during the day who have good runners.

Like they say it seems they just not interested in helping the punters to grow the pools. No help or info regarding runners fitness and well being just leads to lack of interest and Cape racing can surely ill afford this attitude at the moment. They do get good feedback from trainers on course but this is way to late for people working out perms and bets for the day. With respect Neil's podcast today is really just another opinion with very little help regarding well being and all the other bits that trainers can help with. Really sad they all seem to have abandoned Tellytrack to do their own things which would be fine if they could just do it in a shorter format with the relative people.

You have every right to complain about TT as that is part of a paid for service, but Neil's show is free to watch so if you don't like it don't watch it. Simple. I'm not commenting on the content as I myself don't watch it, but really it is better than nothing, which is what you're seemingly getting from TT.

You are correct and i dont watch it anymore, i know its free and they all volunteer their time, but what it looks like is that tellytrack is maybe not planning on having under starters orders but simply relying on a feed like that.
