.....was intending on swinging by for a gander.....but with state of racing getting into more dwang daily and now BP asking for more time....and the RA continuing on as a closed shop.....I'll give this a total miss...:S

I wonder when sales prices will reflect the true state of stakes ROI (if any) - take out Van Vuuren and Jooste and you realise how these fraudsters caused so much harm to the breeding/racing industry with false prices (easy to buy with other people's money)

It’s been a very difficult few months for everyone, breeders Included.
Entries for this sale were finalized many months ago, and then the uncertainty of the dates of the sale and whether it would be a live sale or online only.
Hence an unprecedented number of withdrawals, but still 330 of the original 479 yearlings to be sold.
My horses are there but I will be following on Zoom from CT.
Buyers are of course also under pressure and huge uncertainty- we don’t even have a provisional program of races published beyond August for most centers and only for September on the highveld. Still awaiting the EU audit ( hopefully they will agree that it can be done remotely or we will have a long wait), and the Phumelela saga dragging out.
After this, there will be a combined 2yo sale and what would have been the KZN yearling sale, now in November in Jhb, plus the CTS RTR now including unbroken 2yos in CT also in November.
The Cape trainers have mostly seen the yearlings on the farms and there has been a pleasing amount of activity at the sales compound this week. How much cash and appetite is the big unknown.
Buyers have the benefit of these now being almost two year olds so less time before they run.
I have two lots from Black Swan Stud.
Lot 48 a very smart, athletic full brother to Ernie and Freedom Charter. ( Elusive Fort- Betty Burke). Freedom Charter a Gr 3 winner and Ernie a listed race winner in SA and broke the 1400m course record in Mauritius. This is the 6th foal, And all four runners are winners. The 3yo Brilliant Disguise has now won again since the catalogue printed.
Elusive Fort has been doing very well again this year, with the highlight being the recent Gr 1 SA Derby winner, Out of Your League. He gets quality horse over all distances.
Lot 223 is a very nice Querari filly out of Silvano mare Julila. Dam has 2 winners from 3 runners. Querari of course one of our top sires and the cross with Silvano works well.
Dam a half sister to the useful Real Red and from the family of Bianconi.
